"I Banned It In The Car" – People Are Sharing The Popular Songs They Really, Really, Realllllyy Hate

Can whoever let the dogs out PLEASE finally right your wrongs.

We recently shared a list of songs that irk, ire, annoy, and gall Twitter (or X, I guess) users the second they hear them. And you had so much to say in the comments that we thought we'd turn the replies into their own, separate post! Here are some responses that caught our eye:

    1. "All About That Bass" by Megan Trainor

"It makes me stabby. I banned it in the car in 2014, along with anything by Maroon 5 and Blink-182. Sometimes you just have to put your foot down."

"Anything by Train really, but especially this song! 😖"

"I used to carpool with a girl and she only had Train CDs. She would play 'Meet Virginia' on repeat. My God, that was torture."

"That annoying song was used by everyone for every TikTok and Insta reel imaginable for months on end. It was dreadful the first time I heard it, and it only got worse."

"I. Hate. That. Song. So. Much.

The percussive background noises sound like they took MIDI sound files of someone snapping and clapping, but stretched them out a little too long so the sounds are just awful sounding.

I DESPISE the line 'the mattress that you stole from your roommate back in Boulder', because how do you steal an entire mattress? Did your roommate back in Boulder just come home one day to their mattress being gone? Did you steal the box spring with it? Mattresses are notoriously unwieldy to move. Did you steal like, a little kid mattress from them and that's the only way you were able to steal it without needing help? God forbid you stole your roommate's queen-size mattress! How on Earth would you move that by yourself, or did you enlist your other shitty shady friends to steal your roommate's mattress?"

"This is a throwback, but 'Who Let the Dogs Out?' was the most baffling hit of my entire life. Truly an abomination of sound. Hated it from the moment I heard it."

    snugglykittens

"Somebody else here said 'Who Let the Dogs Out', which was probably one of the dumbest songs ever created."

"I worked at a garden centre for about 18 months in my teens, and there was an advert for some grass feed stuff called Evergreen that used the song and changed the lyrics. It was on the screen by the tills and played about once every half hour. I'm sure it was a contributing factor to me quitting."

"I love Lizzo to absolute pieces but oh my God, 'About Damn Time' damn near drove me crazy last summer. It was on the radio constantly, it was in the grocery store, it was in commercials – you literally could not escape it for about a month and a half."

"I was in high school when that monstrosity came out. So many other great songs got cheated out of being Number 1 because of that horrible screed. Consider yourself truly blessed if you've never heard it. There was no escaping that on MTV or the radio in 1988/9.

And if you did somehow manage to escape it, 'I've Had The Time of My Life' from Dirty Dancing was there to make your ears bleed. Those two songs made me hate radio as the '80s ended."

"I have tinnitus that tends to mimic and play a random sound, voice, or fragment of a song on loop, which can last minutes, hours, days, or weeks.

Once had Oakey's first two lines 'I only knew you for a while / I never saw your smile' on loop all day – roughly 56 times per minute from the moment I woke up to the moment I went to sleep – for four days.

It wasn't the longest duration of a song fragment on loop, but I loathe his voice with the intensity of a thousand suns. Especially how he went 'I only knew you for a whiiiile'."
