At the majority of restaurants it is not a problem and the server will politely say that they will check to see if they can make something without salt. Most restaurants do not display nutrition facts on their menus or websites and sometimes we randomly feel like eating somewhere…

She can easily gauge if a dish has too much sodium. It is not irresponsible of us to take her out in public, as you seem to think. She likes to eat good food and she is not incompetent and by asking she is trying to prevent the inevitable time when she will have to send the food back…

I don't know why people are being mean, we have to ask about salt because my mom will die if she eats too much salt so I understand your predicament. People need to be a little more considerate and think about why we may ask about things like salt and gluten.
