The royalty rates are “insane”? Have you seen this chart?
(via ) Oh, those greedy bastards! They want to earn at least £0.0012 UK per stream - how utterly selfish of them. I mean, you’d only need to play a song four million times for them to earn basic minimum wage - the nerve of them! They should sell their gear and bang on pots and pans and beg for table scraps. Funny how an increasing number of acts (e.g. Deadmau5) are withdrawing their music from streaming sites because - yes - it’s unsustainable. It’s a good idea, but it doesn’t work because they don’t pay the acts enough and listeners like me refuse to subscribe because we know this and would rather fund the artist by buying the album. I won’t hold my breath in anticipation of Microsoft diving in with a fair, sustainable model, either. And, yeah, I agree that this is an obvious paid-for puff piece.
