In my research, people with user names like “ninjapornstar” don’t usually make thoughtful or intelligent comments. But this ninja over here just proved me wrong. Does that mean all the ninjapornstars are like this one and I’m just ignorant to the fact? Or could this person be one exception to what I had originally thought was a solid assumption? Does that make me a bad person for using my previous personal experiences to judge someone I don’t know? Or is everyone different and you learn something new everyday? The real question here is: Do I love seeing people argue about whether something is or isn’t offensive via comment sections? The answer is yes, and I also enjoy the next step where I submit my own worthless response.

The fundamental attitudes and values held within the Catholic church are not centered around discriminating against gay people. Contrary to popular belief, there is actually a lot more to the religion aside from this fact. To suggest that a gay person should be smart enough to know they do not belong in any religious institution is a mind set that contributes to why it’s still “ok”. The point of fighting back and refusing to accept this is an attempt to get the attention of Catholic’s so they might be able to see their stance on homosexuality in a different light. Maybe begin to understand that it is in fact not consistent with the overarching themes and teachings of the religion. Although it may seem naive or idealistic, by promoting awareness there is potential for a re-examination of this part of the doctrine. But not if everyone has the mind set that change is not possible; that Catholics are just terrible hateful people who all fit the stereotype that you read about on the internet. Because that isn’t true, much like any other generalization about a specific group.

In most parts of Ohio it is legal to fire someone due to sexual orientation. But Columbus passed a municipal ordinance in 2008 that protects people from being fired on that basis and there are no exceptions in that ordinance for religious institutions. So it is looking like this was illegal

I’m so glad there is at least some conversation going on about this topic. Whether you agree or disagree with it, increasing awareness that it exists makes a difference. A lot of people put up with it multiple times daily some men being more aggressive than others. It’s like walking on eggshells not knowing if someone is going to go off and react badly to being ignored when they have no right to feel entitled to a strangers attention anyway.

Talk to someone with a different opinion, listen to their reasoning, think about what exists outside of yourself, and try to UNDERSTAND why you are different. Then maybe “we” all could learn to appreciate and respect each others beliefs instead being closed minded and judgmental due to our own ignorance

I hope Seth Macfarlane knows how much joy and laughter he brings to the lives of so many people everyday when they watch Family Guy. Must make all these people so full of hate easier to deal with. NEVER CHANGE
