I think you mean “psych,” which is much different than “psyche.”

Psychologically speaking, humans tend to view fuller, “fatter” women and men as more attractive during times of famine or hardship. It signifies status- those people can afford to stay healthy when the majority can’t. During the Great Depression, then, makes perfect sense. Especially considering that just the decade before (which was “roaring” and saw great economic success) favored a skinnier woman.
The person “correcting” in #6 spelled “separate” incorrectly. If you’re going to correct someone else, first make sure you are correct!
Did I just agree with…. Kendall Jenner?
Just because the movies are old doesn’t mean we can’t call them out on being racist. Several commenters have noted that “we can’t judge older movies based on the advanced ideas we have today on discrimination!” However, that’s bullshit. Are you going to tell someone who was discriminated against in the 1940s that s/he should get over because it was a different time, and that was acceptable then? No, you aren’t, because then you’d be a completely awful person. It doesn’t matter what time period it was, discrimination is always bad. And even if we WERE to judge the movies in the context of their own time periods, most of these are STILL INCREDIBLY RACIST. Dumbo, Fantasia, The Aristocats? All racist in some way. And don’t even get me started on Peter Pan- the song tells the tale of the originally “normal, white-skinned” Native Americans who become red out of embarrassment- which pretty much teaches kids that they’re ashamed and they should be.
Some of these (Like the Little Mermaid) are not racist. Those are just people looking for something to complain about. However, most of these are horribly, horribly offensive.
Can we PLEASE get over the 90s nostalgia already? It’s getting really old.
You’re not any better than anyone else because you were born in the 90s. I was born in the early 90s and even I recognize this. Your childhood was not any better than someone who wasn’t born that decade’s was.
Get over it.
I’m getting really tired of all of this.
Clearly, you’re better than everyone born in the past ten years because they only know about what kids their age NEED to know about.
Why would a kid today need to know about JTT? When you were a kid, did you know about Leif Garret?
The thing is that most of things are obsolete. Unimportant. Definitely not a necessity to know about.
And besides. If you’re talking about these things, you have to be only around ten years older than the kids you’re complaining about.
Get over yourself. The nineties were no more special than any other decade. Knowing about these things doesn’t make you unintelligent.
You complaining about is, however, does say that about YOU.
Most important movie of my childhood. I even own a replica toy Spice World bus.
To be fair, they asked what the best situation for the kid was, not what they wanted. The best situation for a child WOULD be to have a stay at home mom, or even a stay at home dad (Parrish the thought!) they also didn’t ask about fathers, so this kind of seems like something someone who was looking for trouble might post.
What’s the problem? Kids who were born premature could have appreciated this.
