At a time I hadn’t come out yet (as gay) my grandma gave me $10. She said “now you can use that to buy some shoes, or you can kiss the pizza man” and toddled away. I went full red.
What helped me most was family/friends responding as if it were no big deal and continuing our relationships as if nothing had changed - acknowledging I'm still me, and they don't think any less of me.
