21 Couples That Have Glowed The Fuck Up

Aged like fine wine.

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to show us their couple glow-ups. And honestly it's the cutest thing ever.

1. A love that lasted through it all.

"We met when we were put next to each other in a French lesson, aged 12, in 2006. He didn’t talk to me because he was shy, but I thought he was rude. All through school we were best friends and helped each other out with various teenage issues.

On my 18th birthday, I got horribly drunk and he looked after me, and I saw him in a new light. We became official not long after. I then became ill and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. We ended up at the same university, and whilst he had an amazing first year, I spent most of it in hospital and experienced bullying for the first time in my life. I quit uni after a year, and a few weeks later we found out we were having a wonderful accident baby.

I worked full time, and when our daughter was born he continued his degree in the week but travelled back to see me and the baby every single weekend. Now we’re 24, engaged — he works full time while I’m finishing my degree, and our daughter is starting school later this year."

2. Best friends through everything.

"We went to middle school and high school together, but didn’t meet until my senior year of high school. We are now engaged and he just got accepted into the graduate school of his dreams. Having been long distance for nearly five of our eight years, we learned a lot about ourselves as individuals and dealt with our fair share of doubts and disagreements. But we have always been best friends through everything. When we met at 17, we were doing our best to navigate through the hormones and the college applications. Now we are in our mid-twenties trying to navigate this adulting thing.

We have been through four graduations together, three apartments, and two existential crises."

3. Life partner.

My husband, Mike, and I started dating when we were 13 years old. And we will be celebrating 15 years together in May. We definitely grew up together. We went to middle school, high school, college, and nursing school. We bought our first home together and got married in 2014. We’ve traveled to over 20 countries together and our next big adventure is this summer, when we’ll be welcoming our first baby.

4. From best friends to soul mates.

Nine years ago in 2009, my best friend told me that he had a crush on me, and I told him we would never be anything more than friends. A year of hanging out and becoming really close, and I finally realised how amazing he was. Fast-forward to 2018: We have our own place, a new puppy, and have been engaged for two years. It just took me a little while to see what was right in front of me. My only regret is that I didn’t see how perfect he was sooner!

5. Through the good, the bad, and the ugly.

We started dating when we were 17, right at the end of junior year of high school. We made it through the last year of high school, college, the entire decade of our twenties, marriage, and buying our first home together. We’ve seen the good, the ok, the bad, and the REALLY bad parts of each other, but have evolved and grown (and glowed!) together. We got married in 2014 after being together for 10 years, and this year we celebrate four years of marriage and 14 total years being together.

6. Summer camp romance.

The picture on the left is from when we were both 15 and met at a summer camp in 2007. We lived in different cities, but stayed in contact and eventually started dating in 2012. The picture on the right is us this past November after we got engaged.

7. From flower girl and ring boy to husband and wife.

We met at his house when my parents decided to visit his parents at their new house. At that time I was 3 and he was 6, and we were just being kids and jumping on mattresses together. We were flower girl and ring boy for a couple of weddings, we were in youth group, did choir together, etc. We pretty much saw each other all the time. About five years ago, I sat next to him at a wedding and we started to talk every day. A month later we started dating, and last August we got married. My mum has said that the day we were jumping on mattresses, they all joked that we would get married someday. So they pretty much jinxed themselves.

The first picture is one of the first photos my boyfriend and I took together when we started dating in 2012. We were 17 and awkward, but so crazy about each other. Now our sixth anniversary is coming up, and we have plans to get engaged soon. I’m so happy I get to grow (ahem, glow up!) with someone as amazing as him.

We met in high school; we were best friends but he moved away right after graduation and I thought I’d never see him again. Fast-forward almost seven years from this picture and we have the most incredible 2-year-old and are finally getting married in November.

From 2012 to Christmas 2017. We’ve been together for about six years and married for two years in August. We graduated college, got married, bought a house, and added a couple of fur babies to the family. Thank goodness those two young dumb kids had some sense to stick it out and make it last. ❤️
