There Are 3 Different "Pinocchio" Movies Coming Out This Year — Here's Who's Playing Who In Each One

Disney nailed Geppetto, but I can't wait for Ewan McGregor as the Cricket on Netflix.

In case you missed it, there are three different movies about Pinocchio, the puppet who wants be a real boy, coming out this year.

Disney's live-action adaption of their 1940 movie Pinocchio is coming to Disney+ in September.

First Look! Check out Tom Hanks as Geppetto and our beloved Pinocchio, voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth. #Pinocchio is coming to #DisneyPlus this September.

And Lionsgate is releasing an English version of the Russian animated movie Pinocchio: A True Story this month.

If the Lionsgate Pinocchio seems familiar, it's because it went viral on TikTok after Lionsgate posted this clip captioned, "The yassification of #pinocchio."

I don't know how to feel.

Because all these movies are working with basically the same basic plot and characters, here's a rundown of who's tackling each role in each movie:

First off, Disney's Pinocchio will be voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth.

Netflix has cast Gregory Mann to voice their title role.

And if you're wondering who made Pinocchio's voice quite so "yassified" in Lionsgate's adaptation, it's Pauly Shore.

For Pinocchio's father/creator Geppetto, Disney has cast Tom Hanks.

Netflix picked David Bradley to voice their Geppetto.

And Tom Kenny (the voice of SpongeBob) will voice Geppetto in the Lionsgate version.

Jiminy Cricket will be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt in Disney's version of Pinocchio.

In Netflix's version, he'll be named Sebastian J. Cricket and voiced by Ewan McGregor.

And in Pinocchio: A True Story, there's no cricket, but Pinocchio is guided by his talking horse Tybalt, voiced by Jon Heder.

Cynthia Erivo will play the Blue Fairy in Disney's Pinocchio.

Tilda Swinton will play the Fairy with Turquoise Hair in Netflix's Pinocchio.

And Pinocchio: A True Story has a fairy named Lucilda, but I cannot find any information on the rest of the English voice cast.

The Coachman with the donkeys will be played by Luke Evans for Disney.

And Tim Blake Nelson for Netflix.

For Disney, Keegan-Michael Key will play the Fox.

And for Netflix, it'll be Christoph Waltz.

That's most of what we know of the Disney cast, but Netflix has announced plenty of other famous voices like Finn Wolfhard, Cate Blanchett, and Ron Perlman.

Now we all have to eagerly wait for new trailers and release dates so that we can plan our Pinocchio (2022) movie marathons.
