Netflix Just Released A List Of New Cast Members For "The Witcher" Season 2, And It's A Little Preview Into The New Season

    Spoiler alert: We're gonna meet so many witchers.

    Today Netflix announced seven new cast members, along with the characters they'll play, for The Witcher Season 2, which is set to premiere sometime in 2021:

    Because these characters already exist in the Witcher books and video games, this character list gives us a little preview of Season 2. The stories likely won't be exactly the same, but here are some descriptions of who these characters are in the books and games:

    Sidenote: I tried not to spoil any major twists, but it's impossible to know how the show will handle things, so read at your own risk!

    Coën isn't in the Witcher games except for a single vague mention, but in the books, he's a witcher who trains Ciri to use a sword. (So basically get excited to see little Cirilla wielding a blade.) He's also a pretty unusual witcher in that he still has scars from childhood illness and he's willing to take sides in major conflicts.

    Lambert is a witcher from both the books and video games! He was trained at Kaer Morhen (basically a place where they make witchers), just like Geralt, but he's younger and pretty ill-mannered. He also trains Ciri in combat, so I guess all witchers just have an insatiable need to adopt Ciri and teach her to fight. (And from the looks of his Twitter, Paul Bullion has been doing quite a bit of sword training.)

    Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel

    Eskel is another witcher from the books and video games. He's Geralt's friend from childhood because they were both raised in Kaer Morhen. Mostly, he's just a powerful and level-headed guy, but he and Geralt also might have a little more in common than either one realizes.

    Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia (probably Lydia van Bredevoort)

    Lydia isn't in the video games, but in the books, she's a sorceress who serves as Vilgefortz's assistant. (In case you forgot, Vilgefortz was the guy who tracked down Yennefer to bring her back to Aretuza.) Because of an incident with a cursed artifact, she can only communicate using telepathy.

    Mecia Simson as Francesca (probably Francesca Findabair)

    In the Witcher games, Francesca Findabair is only featured as a card in the Gwent minigame, but in the books, she's a powerful sorceress and member of the Brotherhood of Sorcerers who also happens to be an elf.

    Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen

    Nivellen isn't in the video games, but he's part of a short story in the books. (Unfortunately, that means we'll probably get to see Kristofer Hivju of Game of Thrones fame for just one episode.) Basically, he's a man who got Beauty and the Beast–ed (aka cursed by a woman he wronged to look like a monster until true love or whatever cures him).

    And Agnes Bjorn as Vereena

    I couldn't find a picture of Agnes Bjorn, who will play Vereena, but in the books, Vereena is an odd woman who falls in love with the previously mentioned Nivellen despite his appearance. I won't spoil anything, but her strange behavior (like the fact that she only speaks an unknown language) indicates she's probably hiding something.

    So basically, things you can look forward to in Season 2 include a lot of witchers, some more sorceresses, Ciri with a sword, and a Beauty and the Beast episode. And you only have to wait until 2021!
