Response to Here’s Why Cornrows Are For Black Women:
To Essence Grant and Buzzfeed- I’ve never felt the need to comment on any of your articles, but this is trash. You can’t decide what hairstyles a person can or cannot wear. You also can’t say that it’s cultural appropriation, because that is not always the case. Based on the title itself this should never have been approved. As a black girl myself, I actually like seeing people of other cultures trying out hairstyles that are traditional to black women and men. To me I don’t necessarily see it as being appropriation, but more of an appreciation. To me it shows how far our society has come. I see it as moving forward, but your butthurt title is definitely a huge step back. Really hope this gets taken down… Shame on you guys.
