Ariana Grande Proved The Drama With Her Dad Is Over By Changing The Lyrics To "Thank U, Next"

"I'll be thanking my dad, 'cause he's really awesome."

Ariana Grande attended the Grammy Awards last night, where — in addition to wearing the biggest, poofiest dress you've ever seen — she performed a medley of her hit songs, including "Thank U, Next."

Her performance was absolutely stellar, but it was one notable lyric change in "Thank U, Next" that had many people talking online.

In the original song, Ariana sings, "I'll be thanking my dad / 'Cause she grew from the drama." The "drama" is a reference to her falling out with her father, Edward Butera.

Over the years, Ariana has occasionally opened up about her rocky relationship with her father. For example, in 2014, Seventeen asked her about the toughest thing she's ever had to deal with, and she answered, "Falling out of touch with my dad":

Falling out of touch with my dad. It's private, but it happened last year. It took me so long to be okay with it...So much of me comes from my father, and for so long, I didn't like that about myself. I had to accept that it's okay not to get along with somebody and still love them.

But recently, there have been signs that the two have reconciled. This past Thanksgiving, Ariana shared a selfie of herself between her two parents.

And at yesterday's Grammy Awards, Ariana surprised everyone by bringing both her parents to the show. Look how cute they all are together!

So when it came time for Ariana's Grammy performance, she changed that "drama" lyric in "Thank U, Next" to something really sweet.

"I'll be thanking my dad / 'Cause he's really awesome," she sang with a smile. She then became visibly choked up and fought back tears as she continued with the song.

HOW CUTE IS THAT?
