I Used AI Technology To Recast Celebs In Live-Action Disney Movies — They Range From "Bad" To "Perfect"

There's only ONE person on Earth who should play Edna Mode in a live-action remake of The Incredibles, and I think we all know who that is.

Disney is no stranger to adapting their animated movies into live-action films, and sometimes the casts are absolutely perfect. So, I designed an AI bot to recast a bunch of famous characters with today's biggest celebrities. Here are the good, bad, and interesting results.

1. Rapunzel in Tangled (2010) is obviously famous for her incredibly long, luxurious hair. This 18-year-old Disney princess is kind, clever, and extremely determined.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Zendaya should be cast: "Zendaya is a talented singer and has proven her vocal ability in roles like The Greatest Showman, which would be essential in bringing Rapunzel's iconic songs to life. She is also a skilled actor who has demonstrated her range in a variety of roles, including her Emmy-winning performance in Euphoria and in Marvel's Spider-Man series. This range would be beneficial in portraying Rapunzel's journey from a sheltered princess to a confident and adventurous young woman. Zendaya has worked with Disney in the past, which could make her a natural choice for a Disney-produced live-action remake."

2. Flynn Rider is a bit older than Rapunzel (he's 26, to be exact). The character is confident and attractive and, of course, super charming.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Noah should be cast: "Noah Centineo has a similar appearance to Flynn Rider, with brown hair and a charming, boyish look. He has appeared in everything from romantic comedies to action movies and shows, so he has the range to portray Flynn's journey from a cocky thief to a selfless hero. Like Flynn, Noah has a charismatic and charming personality that would be well-suited to the role. He also has a significant fanbase, particularly among younger viewers, which could help to draw in audiences to a live-action Tangled remake."

3. Carl from Up (2009) is a grumpy, short-tempered man who recently lost the love of his wife, Ellie. He's 78 years old and used to be a balloon salesman at the zoo.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Harrison should be cast: "Harrison Ford is known for his tough-guy persona and gruff exterior, which would perfectly suit Carl, who is initially portrayed as grumpy and solitary. Despite his tough exterior, Harrison has demonstrated a knack for bringing depth and emotional complexity to his characters. This would be crucial in capturing Carl's journey from grief and loneliness to finding new purpose and happiness. Although Up is primarily a character-driven story, there are still several action scenes that require physicality and athleticism, which Harrison has a lot of experience in filming, like in Indiana Jones and Star Wars."

4. Set in 1914, Atlantis: The Lost Empire (2001) is definitely one of Disney's most underrated movies. It's centered around handsome twink Milo Thatch, a 32-year-old linguist and cartographer who's smart and loyal to a fault.

His charming personality and boyish looks could help him bring a sense of innocence and wonder to the character. Milo is often put in physically demanding situations, and Tom's experience with stunts and physical acting as Spider-Man could prove beneficial. His athleticism and agility could help him bring an authentic sense of danger and excitement to the action scenes.

Rami Malek is a highly talented actor who has proven himself to be a chameleon on screen. His unique look and distinctive features could help him bring a sense of quirkiness and intelligence to the character. His ability to portray characters with a sense of gravitas and intelligence could also help him bring depth and complexity to Milo Thatch."

5. Kida Nedakh becomes Queen of Atlantis in the movie, and even though she's technically over 8,000 years old, she can definitely be played by someone in their 20s or 30s.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Amandla or Zoe should be cast: "Amandla Stenberg is close to the age that Princess Kida looks. She is strong and powerful, which would make her a believable warrior princess. She has demonstrated her ability to handle both dramatic and action-packed material, which would be essential for the character of Kida, who is a strong and capable leader. Stenberg has also shown her ability to convey emotion and depth in her performances.

Zoe Saldaña has experience playing strong female characters. She is of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, which makes her a great choice to play a character from a fictional civilization that is inspired by various cultures. Zoe has also proven to be a popular and bankable actor, with several of her films grossing over $1 billion at the box office. Her star power would help draw audiences to a live-action remake of Atlantis: The Lost Empire."

6. Hercules from Hercules (1997) goes through the "One Last Hope" training montage when he's a pint-sized 16-year-old, and he ends the movie at 18, looking buff as hell.

AI technology thinks Dylan O'Brien (age 31) and KJ Apa (age 25) are Hollywood's two best options to play Hercules in a live-action remake.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Dylan or KJ should be cast: "Dylan O'Brien is around the right age, and he has a youthful, athletic look that could suit the character. Additionally, O'Brien has experience in action and adventure films, having previously starred in The Maze Runner trilogy.

KJ Apa is also around the right age and has a muscular build, which would be important for the character. Additionally, Apa has experience playing a teenage protagonist in the hit TV series Riverdale. Both of these actors have demonstrated the ability to play likable, heroic characters, which is an essential trait for the role of Hercules."

7. There's no Hercules remake without Meg. She's described as being older than Hercules (possibly her late 20s) and is obviously super sarcastic and independent.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Emma or Lily should be cast: "Emma Stone has a similar look to the character, with her red hair and fair skin. She also has experience playing strong, independent female characters, like in La La Land and Easy A, which could translate well to Meg's personality.

Also, Lily James has a similar age range and has demonstrated her acting ability in various roles, including her portrayal of Cinderella in Disney's live-action adaptation of the classic fairy tale. James has also shown her versatility in playing complex characters with depth and nuance, which would be essential for bringing Meg to life on screen.

Other actors who could potentially fit the role include Saoirse Ronan, Florence Pugh, and Zendaya."

8. Merida from Brave (2012) is a bold and courageous 16-year-old who competed for her own hand in marriage in Medieval Scotland.

Merida is a skilled archer and fighter, and Saoirse has demonstrated a willingness to take on physically demanding roles in the past: She trained in martial arts for her role in Hanna and did extensive horseback riding for her role in Mary Queen of Scots. These experiences would be beneficial in bringing Merida's physicality to the screen. Also, Saoirse is of Irish heritage, which could add an extra layer of authenticity to the character of Merida, who is Scottish. While the two countries are not the same, they are geographically close and share some cultural similarities."

9. Tiana from The Princess and the Frog (2009) is one of the oldest Disney Princesses at 19 years old. She's incredibly hardworking, and her physical features (including her dimples) were even modeled off of Anika Noni Rose, who voiced her.

Here's why the AI bot thinks Keke should be cast: "Keke Palmer has demonstrated versatility in portraying both dramatic and comedic roles, whether in film, television, or on stage, which could translate well to the character of Tiana, who is a hard-working and ambitious young woman with a strong sense of humor. Keke is an accomplished singer who has released several albums and performed on Broadway, so her vocal range could bring the necessary depth and authenticity to Tiana's musical numbers. Her passion for empowering young people — particularly young women of color — aligns with the themes of The Princess and the Frog, which celebrates hard work, determination, and pursuing one's dreams."

10. Tiana obviously ends up with Prince Naveen, a 20-year-old native to the fictional kingdom of Maldonia (a mix between the Maldives and Macedonia). Naveen is a traditionally Indian surname.

Regé-Jean Page is a classically trained actor who gained international recognition for the hit Netflix series Bridgerton. The character of Prince Naveen is a talented musician who plays the ukulele, and Regé-Jean Page's musical ability could bring the necessary depth and authenticity to Naveen's musical numbers."

11. Raya from Raya and the Last Dragon (2021) is Disney's first Southeast Asian princess. She's 18 years old and is extremely capable and heroic.

12. Elsa was 21 years old when the first Frozen (2013) movie was released. She was born with blonde hair, which turned white because of her powers. She's strong-willed, confident, and very protective.

14. And finally, Edna Mode from The Incredibles (2004) is a brilliant, practical, and iconic designer. She's super short and is half-Japanese and half-German.
