So KJ Apa Played A Character Just Like Archie Before "Riverdale" And I Already Like That Guy More

Two redheads walk into a bar...

Hey guys, this is KJ Apa. He plays Archie Andrews on Riverdale, which is a super great show and if you haven't seen it you should watch it immediately.

Luckily, there are others out there who share my pain.

archie the type of dude to play wonderwall on a college campus even tho no one asked him to

You guys just know Archie Andrews' favourite song would be "Hey There Delilah" if Riverdale was set a decade ago.

Yesterday, KJ's costar Cole Sprouse shared this #tbt screenshot on his Instagram story, teasing him with the caption, "Still Jenny from the block," no doubt a nod to Archie's (cringeworthy) musical aspirations.

Apparently, before playing a "high school athlete who had a relationship with his teacher but now really just wants to pursue his music" on Riverdale, Apa played a "high school athlete who had a relationship with his teacher but now really just wants to pursue his music" on New Zealand soap opera, Shortland Street.

The clip shows Apa's character, Kane Jenkins, sitting alone at a restaurant, waiting for his friends to arrive. He picks up an abandoned guitar that turns out to belong to Ed Sheeran, who plays himself. Ed stays to sing a song and give Kane a bit of advice, leaving just as his disbelieving friends arrive.

KJ even tweeted his love for Ed just a few weeks before his cameo episode aired.

If only Ed had given him advice on how to actually be helpful when solving a murder.

Ugh, I think we might be stuck with guitar-wielding Archie for a while.
