A Couple Looked Very Intimate In The Background Of The BBC's Olympic Coverage

"Apparently they are reading a book...in a very strange pose."

BBC Olympics presenter Dan Walker had to present from Copacabana beach while a very strange incident happened in the background last night.

After people on social media contacted Walker wanting to know what was going on, he said:

He then made an important clarification.

Just for clarification... they were reading a book!!! That couple were definitely reading a book 😂😂😂 #Copacanoodle

BBC Four's Olympic coverage is very eccentric. For example, between the sports they've talked a lot about the bright orange bins on the beach.

They also invented the hashtag #Copacabanter.

They then noticed that the beach binmen collect the bins at the same time each night, so they asked people to tweet in using a new hashtag called #Copacabinmen.

The binmen became an obsession with viewers.

A pigeon also once interrupted live coverage, leading to a new hashtag called #Copacapigeon.

They also kept zooming in on a man who they claimed looked like the British chef Antony Worrall Thompson.

And, amazingly, a bachelorette party invaded the live coverage and Walker interviewed the bride.

This is the beautiful moment when a hen party crashed BBC Four's late-night Olympic coverage.

“I want to say something for my husband,” Maria, the bride, told Walker. He replied: “A message for your husband? I hope he’s watching BBC Four.”

This led to her and all of her friends chanting the words "BBC! BBC! BBC! BBC! BBC! BBC!"

Maria's mum, Hercilia, then appeared on the show a couple of days later and invited Walker to her daughter's wedding.

BuzzFeed asked Walker about his experience in Rio. He said: "That spot on the beach is the place to be. In the last 24 hours I've been stopped by loads of people wanting pictures. I thought it was because I look like this famous TV host in Brazil and they thought I was him but apparently they all like our show!"
