Non-Americans Are Sharing Which US Products Are Well Respected And It's Kinda Surprising

Wearing the Yankees brand is a sign of good fashion?

On Friday, Reddit user u/Blimpington asked non-Americans, "Which US-made products are respected and have a good reputation in your country?" IDK, to me, it's fascinating which American products people actually like in other countries.

    Here's what people shared:

    1. "In China, US-made and US-branded products are generally considered high-quality. For instance, Buick is a fairly popular brand in China. When GM went through bankruptcy and eliminated brands such as Pontiac and Saturn, Buick survived the cut because it sold so well in China."

    2. "Seems obvious but movies, TV, and film. You Americans have been churning out showstoppers for a long, long time."

    3. "In South Korea, you'd buy a gift set of Spam, and give to someone. Spam in South Korea is viewed as 'wow' thing. It's like giving someone a bottle of wine as a gift."

    4. "In Germany, Weber grills are a sign of high status."

    5. "Caterpillar heavy equipment is well respected, and an industry standard. Most of their manufacturing takes place in the USA."

    6. "Canadian here — anything from Trader Joe's."

    7. "Wahl clippers. Bought mine 25-plus years ago. Still use it every couple of weeks for the buzzcut."

    8. "Pop-Tarts. Us Brits only normally get the choice of strawberry or chocolate. The amount of flavors available in the US is staggering! Also, at one point when abroad, we had that Quaker porridge with the little eggs that hatch into candy dinosaurs. I used to think that was the best breakfast ever! Second choice would have to be Lucky Charms."

    9. "Lay's chips. It's the biggest chip brand in my country and has been here for decades."

    10. "My girlfriend had a cousin visit from Japan. He left with, like, 20 tubes of toothpaste from the dollar store here in California. So, US toothpaste is well respected."

    11. "Some brands of tools and machinery, like Estwing, Bondhus, Ingersoll Rand, are well respected in my country."

    12. "Johnson & Johnson. I was born in India and moved to Brazil when I was a baby. I use lot of different J&J products, and I can easily find them even in the tiniest little shop in a small town, while in India. J&J yellow baby shampoo is the best makeup remover ever. Johnson & Johnson is my true love."

    13. "Martinez hammers and Woodpecker tools are some of the best."

    14. "In Germany, the amount of New York Yankees apparel straight up shocked me. A lot of US sports teams apparel are popular here, but the Yankees brand is worn the most by far. Coming from New York, the first three to four times I saw this, I'd say, 'Oh, you like the Yankees? I'm from there.' I was met by totally blank stares, like they didn't realize what teams they were even wearing."
