Yessss. Also am I the only one who shipped him with Steve? Internalized homophobia/biphobia and toxic masculinity would have been interesting concepts to explore within his character.
The mortal instruments. The world in the books was so RICH and the relationships between the characters were amazing. Sure it had it’s problematic themes but it was such a fun read. The movie was ok to be honest, it wasn’t great and it definitely didn’t live up to the books but it…Â
Percy Jackson. It had the potential to be the next Harry Potter. The books were funny, always interesting and filled with diverse complex characters. And even though it’s a children’s series it never shied away from tackling issues of racism, sexism, homophobia, classism, prejudice…Â
Vampire Academy. The books were amazing! The book series had unique world building, a fast paced interesting plot, and characters who were complex and badass. The series explored many tough themes despite it being YA, like government corruption, sexism, slut-shaming, classism, mental…Â
Opening of the Scream movie. Watched it for the first time when I was fourteen and it absolutely terrified. The way ghostface taunts Drew Barrymore on the phone while she’s locked inside her house in the middle of nowhere only to have her boyfriend gutted in front of her before eventually…Â
Ironically, A Series Of Unfortunate Events. It followed the books faithfully and delivered a satisfying ending that matched the character development and the plot.
I think it has to do more with the fact that JK refused to address his sexuality in the series to begin with. Coming out after the series ended to say he was gay was just a bad move. She wants the representation points without putting in the work.
