You hear that faint sound in the distance? That's just me screaming lyrics from "Bodak Yellow" at strangers on the street.
Why? Because Cardi B's hit single just hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, dethroning Taylor Swift in the process.
And if you haven't heard of Cardi B by now (judging you), just know that she's a talented rapper and funnier than your fave will ever be.
This #1 has been a long time coming, and in my humble opinion, it's very well deserved.
For one, "Bodak Yellow" represents a lot more than meets the eye.
It makes way for women of color in a world that likes to tear them down.
And allows it's listeners to live carefree, even if just for three minutes and 44 seconds.
Aside from being an empowering banger, it's also just fun to listen to!
It's literally keeping people in shape.
And if you're not gettin' down to it everywhere you go, then that's your problem, not mine.
It's OK to not like a song, but please, let everyone have their own fun too.
And for anyone who feels compelled to bring up the fact that she was once a stripper...
...just know that she made history.
