Kevin Feige Just Revealed What It Was Like Casting Mahershala Ali In "Blade" And I'm Obsessed

"The man won a second Academy Award and first thing he did was come to meet with us."

After Avengers: Endgame closed a monumental chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we finally know what lies ahead, and it looks amazing.

During Marvel's San Diego Comic-Con panel in Hall H, Kevin Feige announced a TON of new Marvel movies and TV shows including The Eternals, Black Widow, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Thor: Love and Thunder.

But, it was the announcement at the very end of the panel and the reveal that Mahershala Ali would star in the reboot of Blade that was truly special.

After the announcement, BuzzFeed talked to Kevin Feige about casting Mahershala and it made me even more excited for this movie.

Kevin told BuzzFeed that Marvel has been "trying to figure out something awesome to do with Blade since [they] got the rights back a few years ago."

Mahershala actually wanted to meet with Marvel, and the stars just aligned in the best way for him to take on Blade.

Kevin said, "The man won a second Academy Award and first thing he did was come to meet with us which is always very flattering and very nice."

Besides embodying this iconic character, what sold Mahershala even more was the big announcement in Hall H at SDCC.

Kevin cheerfully explained, "We pitched this idea of Hall H and he was in."

Now, for those unfamiliar with Blade, it follows Eric Brooks/Blade, a half-vampire who hunts vampires.

Eric Brooks was famously portrayed by Wesley Snipes in 1998's Blade and in the subsequent sequels.

Basically, Mahershala is absolutely going to crush it in this role and I'm so excited to finally see Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
