"Avengers: Endgame" Almost Gave Natasha A Heartbreaking New Job After The Snap And I'm Emotional

Apparently I'll never stop crying over this movie.

🚨Warning: There are MASSIVE spoilers for Avengers: Endgame in this post, so proceed with caution.🚨

It's no secret that Avengers: Endgame includes some heartbreaking moments.

But out of the entire movie, one of the most devastating storylines involves Natasha Romanoff.

Our original female Avenger ends up sacrificing herself while on Vormir with Hawkeye in order to obtain the Soul Stone.

This came after Natasha became a leader for the remaining Avengers during the five-year time jump after they killed Thanos.

However, Natasha's post-Thanos job was almost way more heartbreaking than simply taking care of the team.

In an interview with Slate's Mike Pesca on his podcast The Gist, directors Anthony and Joe Russo revealed one of their original ideas for Natasha that they ultimately scrapped.

An early draft of Endgame had a greater focus on what happened to the civilians who were affected by Thanos's snap, in particular children who lost their parents.

Anthony said, "One thing that we talked about a lot ... is just the idea that one quarter of all children have no parents. Assuming you started with two parents."

So the idea was that Natasha would've led an organization in DC that was in charge of taking care of orphans.

Basically, she would've made sure all of these children grew up with a family, which is something she never had.

If you need a refresher, Natasha was recruited as an assassin at a young age, never truly knew her parents, and was eventually sterilized when she finished training.

Also, if Nat's final scenes in Endgame taught us anything, it's that all she ever wanted was a family — eventually she made the Avengers her family.

If you need me, I'll be crying over this cut Natasha storyline, and how her death robbed us of more Aunt Natasha.
