26 Movies You Should Watch If You Love Style

Genuinely great films with excellent outfits, what's not to love?

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which films feature exceptionally good outfits. Here are some of their responses!

    1. Clueless (1995)

    Paramount Pictures

Clueless is definitely one of those movies I watch 30% for storyline and 70% for the outfits. I especially live for the extensive range of tartan in this film. Watch out for the fabulous themed outfits worn by Amber. When will it be socially acceptable to dress like a little sailor on a day-to-day basis?"

    2. Two for the Road (1967)

    Twentieth Century Fox

“Two for the Road is amazing for Audrey Hepburn’s style (as well as story, cinematography, motifs, etc..). Her wardrobe parallels her relationship with her husband (played by Albert Finney), where she’s at emotionally and the era in which we are watching. It was directed by Stanley Donen, who reportedly insisted Hepburn wear some “off the rack” clothing by some notable designers of the time. This film carries stunning, classic, and fabulous looks."

    3. Desperado (1995)

    Columbia Pictures

"Everything in this film could be worn by an Instagram influencer now. So good."

    Natalya Lobanova

    4. In the Mood for Love (2000)

    USA Films / Shôchiku Eiga

"I love the film In the Mood for Love, written and directed by Wong Kar-wai. Ms. Chan wears a beautiful cheongsam in every scene and her wardrobe is just stunning, something about her elegant poise made me fall in love with the movie. The visual elements of the film are sultry and smokey and the whole thing just feels like a moving piece of art."

    5. Casino (1995)

    MCA/Universal Pictures

"Sharon Stone’s gowns are decadent, but tasteful, and De Niro’s suit and sunglass combos just get wilder as the story progresses."

    6. Legally Blonde (2001)

    Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Distributing Corporation

    "Elle Woods' outfits are ICONIC."

    7. Paris is Burning (1990)

    Academy Entertainment

"It's actually a documentary and not a fictional film, all the people are real and their creativity is all theirs. The film is amazing in the heartbreaking stories it tells, but the fashion is so amazing that it's no surprise that basically every musician and filmmaker now seems to have been influenced by it in some way."

    Natalya Lobanova

    8. (1963)

"Basically any Fellini movie but is a must. It's a whole look that eventually defined the '60s – dark, dramatic black mod eyeliner, over the top faux lashes, and gorgeous clothes and hair. It's a beautiful blend of art and fashion."

    9. Jawbreaker (1999)

    Columbia TriStar Film Distributors

"Jawbreaker, because it mixes '50s silhouettes with an '80s colour palette!"

    10. Her (2013)

    Warner Bros. Pictures

"I loved the clothing in Her. So understated and tidy and let’s go ahead and TALK about those high-waisted pants on Joaquin. PRAISE."

    11. Khoobsurat (1980)

    Digital Entertainment

"Rekha's braids and casual tees are everything I could ever want for myself tbh."

    Natalya Lobanova

    12. Heathers (1988)

    New World Pictures

"Heathers, obviously, thirty years later the outfits are still completely to die for. The power suits, the scrunchies, JD’s trench coat. Such an amazing movie."

    13. Almost Famous (2000)

    DreamWorks Distribution

"Kate Hudson ROCKS every outfit she wears. Great movie for any fan of '70s fashion."

    14. Rear Window (1954)

    Paramount Pictures

"Nothing is more iconic than every single one of Grace Kelly's outfits designed by the one and only Edith Head."

    15. Scarface (1983)

    Universal Pictures

"Michelle Pfieffer in this film is the absolute epitome of aloof elegance. That green silk dress is perfect."

    Natalya Lobanova

    16. American Gigolo (1980)

    Paramount Pictures

"Great '80s style on a young Richard Gere. Plus it’s the movie that made Giorgio Armani famous!"

    17. Ghost World (2001)

    MGM / United Artists

"I spent years in high school (unsuccessfully) trying to copy Enid’s style."

    18. Valley of the Dolls (1967)

    Twentieth Century Fox

"Valley of the Dolls! The fashion in that movie is absolutely gorgeous!"

    19. A Star is Born (1976)

    Warner Bros.

"Barbra Streisand's A Star Is Born. Every outfit was killer and came from her actual closet."

    20. Love Story (1970)

    Paramount Pictures

"This film really cemented Ali McGraw's status as a style queen – she wears the most perfect red dress, the most perfect trench, the most perfect tartan skirt; everything still looks so good and so classic."

    Natalya Lobanova

    21. Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)

    British Empire Films Australia

"Their white flowy dresses are soooo dreamy."

    22. Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997)

    Buena Vista Pictures

"Romy and Michele's High School Reunion. They were fashion ICONS."

    23. Velvet Goldmine (1997)

"Velvet Goldmine with Ewan McGregor and Christian Bale. It's all about glam rock. The outfits are amazing. Got an Oscar nod for costume design!"

    24. The Love Witch (2016)

    Oscilloscope / Icon Film Distribution

"I'm obsessed with every single look in The Love Witch. The sixties glam look is my all-time favourite."
