Zendaya Opened Up About The Oral Surgery Dilemma That Had Her Scared To Audition With Timothée Chalamet In "Dune"

    Honestly, her concern was valid.

Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet starred alongside each other in the highly anticipated 2021 film adaptation of Dune, which earned a whopping $400 million at the box office.

The sci-fi movie has a massive fan following, so it would make sense that the actors were a little nervous about taking on the roles. But according to a recent interview, Zendaya was hesitant to audition for an entirely different reason.

In her new W magazine cover story, Zendaya opened up about the oral surgery dilemma that almost held her back from filming with Timothée.

"I had just gotten my wisdom teeth taken out," the 25-year-old Euphoria star admitted. "My biggest fear was that my mouth would be vile."

"And then I would have to do a scene with Timothée where we have to be really close, and he would smell my possible dry socket breath."

Thankfully, that rational fear did not come true and the audition process, as well as the entire shoot, was a success.

A second installment of the film series is set to release in October 2023, and Zendaya couldn't be more excited. Part of the fun for her has been reading the books in the Dune series.

“It’s obviously such a rich text, but it’s so much more than just a book to a lot of people."

"It’s a whole world that they’ve been able to escape to for years."

And don't worry, fans will be seeing a lot more of Zendaya in the second film — way more than the seven minutes of screen time she had in 2021's Dune.
