There's an African proverb that states, "It takes a village to raise a child," which means the community you surround your child with will ultimately contribute to its growth and well-being.
That includes friends in the industry like fellow momma Jodie Turner-Smith. In a recent interview with Refinery29's Unbothered, Jodie revealed she's been keeping in touch with Rihanna to offer some support and advice.
She couldn't help but gush over the media mogul: "I think she's going to be such a great mother," Jodie told R29.
"Anybody who is running their life that positions themself in such a way where they are trailblazing and opening doors, I think that person is going to be a great mother."
"And I'm so excited for her. I DM'd her. I was like, 'Baby girl, I know you have a huge support team, but if you need anything, I'm here for you, okay?'”
The Queen & Slim star welcomed her first child, a baby girl named Janie, with husband Joshua Jackson in April 2020, and she was more than happy to share her motherhood learnings with the singer.
"RiRi and I sometimes talk on DM," Jodie added. "We're not besties, but yeah, it’s a Black motherhood linkup."
"I sent her a picture of my daughter. She's like, 'Oh my god, what? Sis, you just had a baby 10 months ago?' I'm like, 'Girl, it goes by really fast!'”
Seeing women support women is my favorite pastime! Love this for both of them.
