Do you know the secret to deciphering when certain fruits and vegetables are ripe?
I think I'm pretty good at it, but when it comes to eggplant, I have no idea and apparently, neither does Halsey.
On Sunday, the 24-year-old artist took to Instagram to see if any of her followers knew anything about eggplant. But deep down, she was hoping to get advice from Chrissy Teigen.
Luckily, Chrissy, who's rarely ever on Twitter, saw her cry for help and responded with complete honesty.
Unfortunately, only half of her answer was correct. Here's where the cookbook author went wrong:
There actually are signs to look for when shopping for a ripe eggplant:
* Glossy skin
* Light yellow seeds inside
* No dimples or bruises
* Spotless
* Strong, healthy stem
* The push test: if you press your finger into the eggplant and it leaves an impression that quickly fades, your eggplant is ripe. It should never feel too soft, spongy, or too hard. If the impression lingers, it's too soft, and if there's no impression, then the eggplant is immature.
And here's where Chrissy got things right: NO emoji eggplant is the same. They come in a plethora of sizes, despite having similar smartphones.
