Patricia Clarkson's Reasons For Never Having Children Are Going Viral Because They May Be Some Of The Best Ones Yet

    She's got a point.

There's a small but robust group of child-free celebs.

    You have Seth Rogen.

He's been talking about it for a while now, but he recently said another reason for remaining childfree: "Me and my wife seem to get a lot more active enjoyment out of not having kids than anyone I know seems to get out of."

There's Stevie Nicks, who blamed PTA meetings: "It's like, do you want to be an artist and a writer, or a wife and a lover? With kids, your focus changes. I don't want to go to PTA meetings."

Anjelica Huston was real blunt about it. She told the Guardian, "I would probably have been miserable."

And lastly, Helen Mirren gave one of my favorite answers.

She told British Vogue (via Vanity Fair), "[Motherhood] was not my destiny. I kept thinking it would be, waiting for it to happen, but it never did, and I didn’t care what people thought. ... It was only boring old men [who would ask me].”

But now we may have a new supreme when it comes to child-free, marriage-hating celebs: Patricia Clarkson.

Patricia, 63, told the Table for Two podcast her reasons for never getting married or having kids, and those reasons are going viral.

"Look, I have so many sisters who have beautiful children, and they now have beautiful children. I love being an aunt, I love it more than acting, which is odd — okay, they’re on par [with each other]. But I’m telling you, these are gorgeous children, but that doesn’t have to define every woman," she said.

"Let me tell you who's the coolest about it: my mother! My mother said, ‘Patty, I just don't want you to wake up at 50 and be unhappy.’ I woke up at 50 in stilettos and a thong. I’ve had a great, sexy-ass life," she laughed.

"I'm just saying, I love being an aunt, I love being a sister, I love being a daughter, I love being a great best friend. I’m a very good friend, I think. It’s not what I wanted to define me because I didn’t want to fail," she finished.
