The 19-year-old Heartstopper actor came out on Twitter in 2022 after fans accused him of "gaybaiting": “Back for a minute. I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18-year-old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye," he said.
While that whole situation was pretty messed up, Kit's really been coming into his own lately.
Anyway, Kit did an interview with Vogue and talked about his bisexuality.
He commented on his coming out experience, and how people said he was "forced" to do it: "I think ‘forced’ isn’t the right word I would use, but I would say that I would have preferred to do it another way. I also don’t know if I would have ever done it. But at the end of the day I don’t regret it. In many ways it was really empowering.”
He also talked about his experience with being bisexual: “It’s the experience of maybe you’re too straight to be gay and you’re too gay to be straight. So it’s like, ‘Where do I sit?’ But I feel much more secure in myself now.”
Ultimately, that whole coming out thing was messy, but I'm happy to see him embracing it.
I'll leave you with this video of the Heartstopper cast doing the "Macarena" at London Pride because why the hell not?
