What's The One Thing You Wish You Were Told Before You Had Kids?

Share what you've learned with parents-to-be!

When you're about to become a parent people give you a lot of advice, and it can be pretty overwhelming.

Of course, once you have kids you discover there are a lot of things no one told you that you really wish they had. Stuff like:

1. Trust your instincts!

If your gut tells you something, listen. You have a better idea of what you're doing than you realize.

2. You don't need nearly as much baby gear as it seems.

3. You will never go to the bathroom by yourself again.

There's not much you can do to stop this, but it's nice to be forewarned.

4. Do not, I repeat, do NOT let your kids start watching Caillou.

People make jokes about Barney, but he's not the real enemy.

5. "Don't buy a new couch anytime soon."

Or, if you must buy a couch, search for one that is easy to clean over all else.

So tell us: What do you wish you were told before you had kids?
