Two Massive Generators Running In Central Park Power New York City Marathon

And a third generator is idling nearby in case one of these fails, the New York Post reports.

The New York Post made their outrage over the city's decision to move forward with Sunday's marathon clear with this morning's cover story. The Post is reporting that as of Friday morning, 11 generators sat outside Central Park. Yesterday, Gothamist posted a photo of a food truck parked outside the park, too. "The three diesel-powered generators crank out 800 kilowatts — enough to power 400 homes in ravaged areas like Staten Island, the Rockaways and downtown Manhattan," the Post writes this morning. NYC Mayor Mike Bloomberg told the Associated Press yesterday that the Marathon won't divert resources from storm victims.
