Meghan Markle Casually Published A Body-Positive Piece With An F-Bomb In British Vogue

"A personal favourite and the best reminder during the summer season... or any season, as a matter of fact."

The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, is, as far as British royals go, pretty damn relatable.

This month, she was unveiled as the guest editor for British Vogue's coveted September issue, an opportunity she seized to highlight forces of change like Laverne Cox, Jameela Jamil, Greta Thunberg, and Sinéad Burke.

She declined the cover herself, instead offering the space to 15 people with 15 unique causes. And by the way, she's not new to the world of journalism and content. For a time, she ran a lifestyle blog called Tig.

Markle also took the opportunity to highlight one of her favourite short prose pieces, which turned out to be a body-positive ode to our bodies and our planets. And included a cheeky F-bomb.

The piece starts, "Hello. I am the beach. I am created by waves and currents."

So happy to have a chapter of Notes on a Nervous Planet printed in Vogue this month, at the request of guest editor HRH the Duchess of Sussex.

It takes an interesting turn in the middle, when it continues, "I don't care about your body. I am a beach. I literally don't give a fuck."

And he has also had plenty to say on body positivity.

All this stupid beach body stuff year after year. Almost every beach I’ve ever been on is full of all kinds of normal, old, lumpy, happy bodies. Only exception was the beach in Miami and that was just full of vain people flexing muscles and too busy looking at their own body.

In conclusion: YES to body positivity and YES to environmental awareness.

You can read the full poem by picking up a copy of British Vogue out starting today, Aug. 2, or by purchasing Matt Haig's book, Notes on a Nervous Planet.
