Recently, we talked about the warning signs of burnout that you shouldn't ignore, and people who've experienced burnout shared their tips for recovery. But did you know that there are actually three different types of work-related burnout?

The three types are frenetic, under-challenged, and worn out.

According to Psychology Today, burnout occurs when prolonged stress leaves you feeling completely mentally, physically, and emotionally exhausted. Burnout at work can make you feel hopeless, ineffective, cynical, and filled with dread before each shift begins.

To learn more about the three types of burnout and what they look like day to day, I talked with Amy Tran, M.A. She's a clinical psychologist trainee and Ph.D. candidate who shares accessible mental health tips and information on her instagram account @doodledwellness.

Tran says that with all the changing demands we've been facing as we worked the past two years of the pandemic (side note: what even is time??), it's no surprise that people are feeling burnt out.
