"Ramy" Is The Best New Comedy Series Of The 2010s, And Here's Why You Need To Watch

Give us a Season 3, please!!

This past weekend, Season 2 of Ramy finally hit Hulu, and lemme be the first to say it was just as great as Season 1.

But just in case you haven't watched yet, here are 15 reasons why you should:

    1. First, Ramy is a comedy/drama that centers around Ramy Hassan, a Muslim millennial from New Jersey who's constantly searching for his life's meaning.

    2. Looking behind the scenes, the series was created by Ramy Youssef (who also stars in it), Ari Katcher, and Ryan Welch, along with many other Muslim and Middle Eastern writers/directors, which is huge for any TV series.

    3. One of the production companies behind the series is A24 — aka, the same company to produce crowd favorites like Lady Bird, Eighth Grade, Euphoria, and Midsommar.

    4. In terms of Ramy's cast, they're a group of diverse actors you can't help but love.

    5. Celebrities including Mahershala Ali and Mia Khalifa also appear in Season 2.

    6. And Season 2 includes some queer representation too.

    7. Ramy is also not a stereotypical view of Muslims in America, but rather an individual experience.

    8. Ramy Youssef does a phenomenal job playing the show's lead, and while he's a character who doesn't always make the wisest decisions, you constantly find yourself rooting for him.

    9. As a whole, the show mixes cringe comedy and drama, while tackling stronger topics like religion, the meaning of life, and prejudice in America.

    10. In the show, Ramy has nuanced relationships with his friends and their conversations always have some sort of depth or meaning to them.

    11. And while over the course of the show Ramy finds himself in a ton of relationships with women, the relationship he has with himself is the most compelling.

    12. The show has various standalone episodes that delve into the intricate lives of characters like Ramy's mom, dad, sister, and uncle.

    13. And the series also throws in a good amount of twists without adding any unnecessary drama to the plot.

    14. Ramy is *extremely* bingeable — it's currently only two seasons with 10 half-hour episodes each.

    15. And finally, if none of that convinced you, just know that there's a delightful dog named Boomer in Season 2.
