If you want to go further back to the book that first caught my attention with its story and pictures, then it would have to be The Lorax by Dr. Seuss.

The Giver, by Lois Lowry, will forever be my favorite book. I read it in 3rd grade, before I even touched Harry Potter, and began reading anything and everything I could get my hands on.

There had to have been more than this in the 90s. I remember how excited I was when I would get the legit thing, so I remember them pretty well.

I've found a few on Forbes and on Business Insider! I'm just in a healthcare field and it's so hard to find a female role model who does scientific research. I do love that this article gives voices to my generation and my gender!

...why is there only 1 person in the science/medical/mathematics/technology fields and then the rest are liberal arts and activists? I'm all for activism and writing and art, but some of us ladies in a STEM field would like a role model, too. :/
