21 Male Movie Characters Who Were So Bad, They Almost Ruined The Entire Film
Ally's manager from A Star Is Born (2018) is trash.
We asked the BuzzFeed Community to tell us which male movie characters are the worst. Here are the frustrating results.
🚨SPOILERS AHEAD! 🚨
Note: Some of these submissions include topics of sexual assault.
1. Kylo Ren from the Star Wars franchise

"He goes to the dark side and murders a temple full of Jedi Padawans, commits mass genocide on an entire system, repeatedly tries to murder Rey, and just sucks on every level. I hate the toxicity that is Reylo, and I'm glad his character dies."
2. Christian Grey from the 50 Shades of Grey movies

"He’s as romantic as a dish sponge, and he's an emotionally abusive stalker who always needs to have things on his terms. He's presented as being romantically desirable for it, but he doesn’t deserve good things — he deserves jail time."
3. Nick Young from Crazy Rich Asians (2018)

"Nick is a neglectful person disguised as a dreamboat. He keeps misleading Rachel on how to deal with his family — even his friend knows Rachel is in danger of being harassed by his mother. His solution to reconcile his family’s snobbery towards Rachel is so childish, and he continues to put her in difficult situations throughout the movie."
4. Tom Hansen from 500 Days of Summer (2009)

"He's exactly the type of guy who claims his 'sensitivity' is what causes girls not to like him, when it’s actually the fact that he’s just a giant jerk."
5. Yon-suk from Train to Busan (2016)

"He’s selfish, manipulative, and gets so many people killed for the sake of trying to save himself. As the movie goes on, his character just continuously makes everything worse."
6. Arthur Fleck / Joker from Joker (2019)

"The whole movie is made to make you sympathize with Joker and see why he becomes a villain, but they royally fail."
7. Christian Hughes from Midsommar (2019)

"He totally minimizes and dismisses Dani's feelings, gaslights her about an entire trip to Sweden after her parents are murdered, and ignores her consistent panic attacks. I was VERY excited when he was burnt in a bear suit. All hail the Midsommar Queen."
8. Peter Kavinsky from To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (2020)

"He’s completely stuck on his ex-girlfriend, and the fact that he defends Gen knowing she posted the video of him and Lara Jean pisses me off!!! Lara Jean deserves John Ambrose."
9. Cal Hockley from Titanic (1997)

"He's the absolute worst fiancé to Rose and is generally just an awful person. He's misogynistic, entitled, and does a lot of awful things to both Jack and Rose. He literally tries to frame him because he's completely selfish."
10. Ernesto de la Cruz from Coco (2017)

"He poisons his partner and steals his music and guitar so he can become famous. He's the worst, and everyone needs to know it!"
11. Rez Gavron (Ally's manager) from A Star Is Born (2018)

"The scene when Ally's manager tells Jackson he's bringing her down because of his mental health makes me want to scream — Jackson looks so defeated. Her manager is selfish and unmindful, and he deserves the worst."
12. Scott Pilgrim from Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010)

"This movie is bad enough, but I can't for the life of me tell if I'm supposed to think Scott Pilgrim is the hero. He treats women like eye candy, and he doesn't give a f*ck about their actual feelings."
13. Mark Loring from Juno (2007)

"He's a married man who's supposed to be with his angel wife, but eventually he tries to get with Juno, a pregnant high school student carrying his adopted baby."
14. Professor Callahan from Legally Blonde (2001)

"I've always deeply hated Professor Callaghan from Legally Blonde. The moment when he makes Elle doubt her intelligence by sexually assaulting her and inferring she's only doing well in his course because she's pretty is heartbreaking, no matter how many times you watch the movie."
15. Steff from Pretty in Pink (1986)

"Most of the guys from '80s movies are awful, especially Steff from Pretty in Pink. He's awful to Andie, and he never gets in trouble for it."
16. Quentin "Q" Jacobsen from Paper Towns (2015)

"All male main characters from John Green movie adaptations are whiny, especially Quentin from Paper Towns. He's weirdly philosophical for a teenager, and he thinks he's entitled to dating Margo. No thank you."
17. Stanley Kowalski from A Streetcar Named Desire (1951)

"He's abusive, suspicious, and generally awful, but everyone seems to give him a pass because Marlon Brando is hot."
18. George Wickham from Pride & Prejudice (2005)

"Wickham is a liar, a creep, and a manipulative user who preys on young women. I sincerely hope Lydia annoys the hell out of him every damn day."
19. Bluto from National Lampoon's Animal House (1978)

"Every single male in Animal House is awful. There's so much sexual assault — this movie did not age well."
20. Rhett Butler from Gone with the Wind (1939)

"He drunkenly sexually assaults his wife, and he doesn't really apologize for it."
21. And Nate from The Devil Wears Prada (2006)

"As a child, I thought Andrea was wrong in the relationship, but then I rewatched it like a year ago and holy crap, this Nate guy is clearly jealous of Andrea's success. He constantly snubs her for genuinely liking the fashion world, and he always complains she's somehow being shallow. What a crybaby."
