Your pooch's plans to eat their whole dinner in one gulp and give themselves a tummy ache, foiled again by this Outward Hound Fun Feeder.
Promising review: "Amazing! My baby girl used to inhale her food as if she had never had food before in her life!! And then she would want to go out and run in the yard or drink water and throw it up shortly after. So I tried everything: putting balls in her dish, distracting her and putting other toys in the dish to obstruct her — didn't work!! I got this and I am so glad I did!! Tonight is the first night we used it and I could not be happier. Where Izzie would normally take 20 seconds to eat, it took her about five minutes!!!" —Caitlin Kearns
Promising review: "I definitely recommend this product for people who own a fast-eating dog. I just adopted a rescue coonhound. When she was found (abandoned by her previous owner) she was so thin and starved she couldn't stand up. Whenever I fed her, she gobbled her food down in less than a minute and I was immediately concerned for her health, as larger dogs can have issues with bloat and torsion of their innards. I was also worried about her gaining too much weight due to her eating habits. She wasn't chewing at all! I mentioned this to her foster mom and she told me about these slow feeder bowls. Heidi now takes roughly five or six minutes to eat her food and doesn't stop until she gets every piece of kibble. She's now stopping to chew more and she sure seems to enjoy it, too, as she's wagging her tail the entire time! I don't know who came up with this feeding bowl but it sure works." —NancyLou
"Highly recommend for dogs who gobble or like games. We bought the small version of this in pink for our Frenchie years ago, so when our silver Lab puppy, Dinah, started swallowing her food whole, we knew where to go. The large size easily holds more than a cup of kibble, she is unable to tip it over, and she is entertained by the chase for her food. We've used this for several months now, and it has proven to be a great purchase. Dinah digests her food better, and because she eats slower, she can't bother the other dogs while they finish. We have another Lab who doesn't gulp her food, but we are going to try out another feeder because we love these bowls so much! We send ours through the dishwasher and also hand wash them with no problems. The flower pattern (pink) is great for our near-sighted, flat-faced French bulldog. The spiral (orange) seems to suit a long-nosed dog better. If you have a large dog, order the large bowl. The kibble can spread out, making it more challenging to eat." —M. Springer
Promising (or maybe not so promising in the eyes of the pup) review: "I hate, Hate, HATE this bowl!!!!!! I used to be able to wolf my dinner down in 20 seconds flat. BANG! and it was gone. So what I went to the vet once or twice for bloat — who cares! Ize like to eat, and Ize like to eat fast. Now with this '60s retro psychedelic-shaped safety orange dish, I have to work to get every piece of kibble. It takes me 10 minutes now to eat a 20-second dinner. It's downright humiliating. The shame, oh, the shame! Hmmm. Come to think about it, I haven't been to the vet for a while. Phhhhhht. Just coincidence, I'm sure." —Alex Mcphail
