    1. Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink liquid lipstick, a hella-pigmented lippie that can last up to 16 hours and will even convert folks who feel "meh" on liquid lipsticks into die-hard devotees.

    Jennifer Tonti/BuzzFeed, Amazon

Promising review: "I've had a love (mostly hate) relationship with liquid lips. They either always dry out my lips, or the applicator is too bulky for me and I end up staining my face, or it'll come off after one meal! But this is the first liquid lip I actually swear by, and it does none of those annoying things! The applicator itself is revolutionary to me; it has a pointed oval shape with a hole in the middle. At first I didn't understand how this was going to help with application, but let me tell you, it was a breeze! The hole in the middle holds a bit of product in it, and as you swipe across the lips it paints a full-coverage coat in one go. You really don't need a lot, either. One thin layer dries down in about a minute. Throughout the day it remains smooth and pigmented. It doesn't crack or peel either! Plus it comes in the cutest colors for every season!" –Jennifer Tonti (check out her full review here, #1)

Price: $6.69+ (available in 16 colors)

    2. An unbelievably affordable set of long-lasting, waterproof matte liquid lippies in a rainbow of hues so you'll have a shade to suit every mood.

Promising review: "I'm giving this product five stars because: 1. You get 16 colors for $20, which is a great deal! They're high quality for such a great price! 2. The colors are long-lasting. I use them for cheerleading, work, special occasions, nights out, and really everything! I needed pinkish/reddish colors for cheerleading that would last through the sweat and the games, and I'm so happy to have found them! They last throughout the day and night, and may only need to be applied one other time during the day, depending on how much you're eating/drinking. 3. This product goes on so smoothly and barely dries my lips out at all." —Keeli W.

Price: $19.99 for a set of 16 colors or $2.99+ for a single tube (available in seven colors)

    3. Lipstick Queen lipstick in Frog Prince, a formula more magical than a classic fairytale — the stick itself looks green, but it goes on light and adjusts to a unique pink shade that's perfect for your skin tone based on the pH of your skin. Yeah, it'll fit you better than a glass slipper.

Wrong story, I know. Anywho, this stuff is also made with hydrating shea butter so you're ready to smooch your true love, be they human or amphibian.

Promising review: "This is part lipstick, part lip stain, part lip gloss. The first application is a glossy (but not overly shiny) light rose shade. If I reapply after a mid-morning coffee break or after lunch, the rose deepens. The color lasts all day, like a stain. It's got a very soft and natural appearance. Frog Prince is now my go-to." —Joan Marie

    Price: $25

    4. Maybelline Color Sensational nude matte lipstick, which is available in tons of shades because you know one nude does NOT fit all.,

Promising review: "I freaking love this lipstick. I bought it (hesitantly) after watching a YouTube beauty video. I have brown skin, so it's usually hard for me to buy products that I can't see on, because so often the colors are just wrong for me. BUT THIS PRODUCT IS GREAT FOR ME!!!! I have a caramel-y skin color, and this color is the perfect mauve-y nude for me. It's the lipstick I reach for the most, and I'm so sure I'll purchase it again. The matte doesn't dry your lips out, the pigmentation payoff is impressive for a drugstore brand, and it's creamy for a long time before mattifying. I'm obsessed." —Sanjay Gangal

Price: $4.99+ (available in 30 shades)

    5. Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick, a classic formula beloved by over 2,000 reviewers and available in basically every color and finish you could ever want.

I get compliments all the time, and I rarely have to reapply. I usually wear this when I go out for the night or attend a fundraiser, and I always have at least one person say 'How is your lipstick still perfect?!' —Kaitlin

Promising review: "I wear Nars and Marc Jacobs primarily, but they can be a bit pricey. I've tried other brands on the market and been completely unimpressed. This lipstick has the best price while still being high-quality. It feels a lot like Nars, which has always been my go-to. The colors are very saturated, which is phenomenal, and in general they're also fairly unique and feel special. I get so many compliments on my lip colors. They're long wear with very minimal need to reapply. Overall, I'm deeply impressed and highly recommend." —Amazon Customer

Price: $18+ (available in 29 colors)

I was on the hunt for a long-lasting lip color that was less toxic than most lipsticks on the market, and this brand is a winner on those fronts." —Heather H

Price: $4.79+ (available in 24 colors)

    8. theBalm Meet Matt(e) Hughes liquid lippie, which is as stunning and long-lasting as it is punny. In addition to the adorbs packaging and product name, each hue is named after a different quality you'd love to find in a date, like "Charming" and "Devoted."

In case you needed even more reason to swipe right (I mean, uh, add to cart), it's paraben- and cruelty-free!

Promising review: "This is absolutely the best formula of matte lipstick I've tried. I love the wand, the color, the packaging, the smell, the staying power, and the way it feels on my lips. It is dry, but it dries SOFT, not hard, and it doesn't cause my lips to shrivel up. I love this. I haven't shut up about it for three weeks. I have a drawer full of lip products and this is my favorite! I'm a nurse and I work 12+ hours at a time. I only touch up ONCE in my shift (after I eat lunch). Drinking coffee and water doesn't affect the wear." —Anne Marie

It also claims to soften your lips with the help of vitamin E and avocado oil!

Promising review: "I used to feel so self-conscious about my lips. 'They’re thin and ugly,' I’d tell myself, as I resolved I would only ever wear lip gloss. Then I accidentally ordered this. No joke. It was in my shopping cart on one of those days where I was wistfully wishing I could pull off lipstick and I forgot about it and placed another order and...well there it was. I thought what the heck, I’ll just keep it and maybe give it a go. Wow. I was taken aback because I loved what I saw in the mirror. One coat of the Patina shade and I was amazed by how shapely and lovely my lips were. I've gotten SO many compliments! So there are two lessons here. One, this is a great all-day matte lipstick (that stays on well for the most part, but will transfer so keep tissues on your person). And two, love yourself and don’t be afraid to try something new. I almost missed out on the fun of lipstick because I was judgmental of my own body. Be kind to yourself. ♥️" —Gabby

It just glides right on and feels lightweight. I was surprised how long it lasted before I had to reapply. I also love the color (Chit Chat), which is natural and highly pigmented. I haven't been able to find my old favorite shade of this awesome stuff, Fuchsia Flash, many places lately (the Amazon listing doesn't have many left in stock), but it's one of my favorite lippies ever. Not only does the bright pink make my blue eyes really pop, but it's one of those dream lipsticks where the hue really stays — if I go out at night with a couple coats on, I wake up the next morning with a pretty pink tint still pasted on my pout.

Promising review: "I just purchased this and Iove it! I have dark brown skin (I'm South American) and 'Warrior Pose' is the perfect nude for my skin tone. I'll have to buy another, since a true nude for my skin is so hard to find. It's an amazing color for dark skin. Smashbox: More nudes for us gals please!" —sandy

Promising review: "I'm such a fan of Mineral Fusion lipsticks! I started with 'Nude' last autumn, then wore 'Ruby' all summer. I wanted something a little more subdued for late summer and autumn. I find 'Alluring' to be my favorite shade. It's a beautiful dusty dark pink on me, goes on nice and matte, and is very moisturizing like all Mineral Fusion lipsticks. My beau likes the smell :-)." —BuffaloBillie

Promising review: "I love L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipsticks! They stay moist on the lips most of the day — I only have to reapply after meals. I've read some complaints from other reviewers about the Caramel Latte shade not having much of a tint to it, but that's exactly why I love it! I like the nude look on my lips, and this gives just a hint of color along with a sexy sheen. I've found this brand works so much better than lipgloss or balm for keeping my dry, chapped lips moisturized for longer periods of time." —Avid Shopper

    17. Revlon ColorStay Overtime Lipcolor, a long-lasting liquid lipstick with creamy color on one end and clear, conditioning gloss on the other. Because this is 2019 and we need all our products to do double duty!,

It's got over 1,000 positive reviews!

Promising review: "This is pretty damn good. I have yet to find a product that stays on like this. This is wild. I wore it for the first time today and took pictures throughout my day of my lips and how the color stayed on. It stayed pink basically the entire day. I didn't reapply anything at any point, not even the gloss layer. I taught students, ate lunch, drank from a can, took my dog to the vet, licked my lips 900 times, and still have it on as I type this. We're going on about eight hours and it has no sign of going away anytime soon, either. You can tell from the pictures that after a few hours, the color started to fade from the inner lip, but it stays on enough that it still gives the impression of being fully on. I think if I had reapplied just once as a little touch-up it would’ve been super perfect. I've always struggled with lip colors. They'd leave lines around my lips as they faded, which was basically instantly. Most of all, I hated not having confidence in what my lip color looked like. Not with this. I can feel that it’s there, and after checking the first three times, I came to trust that it would still be there when I looked again. I KNEW it would still be there, and that is a fantastic feeling. This is a great product for sure." —InnocentBystander

Price: $5.99+ (available in 25 colors)

    18. Burt's Bees 100% Natural moisturizing lipstick, because the go-to brand isn't just for lip balm. Though coincidentally, this lipstick does have hydrating ingredients like jojoba oil and beeswax and is, in fact, the balm dot com.,

Promising review: "I'm not a huge makeup person — I learned how to put on makeup in the back of the school bus from other poor farm girls like myself. YouTube makeup tutorials are lost on me, but I'm trying to learn. I've used all sorts of brands over the years, but no more. From now on its Burt's Bees or nothing. It's lightweight, doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, and I barely realize I'm wearing anything. The fact that it's natural is a huge bonus." —krystal

Price: $3.49+ (available in 17 colors)

    19. L'Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Last 2-Step lipstick, which you just apply, let dry, then seal with the balm on the other side of the tube, and you're ready to slay all damn day.,

And I mean ALL DAY — it claims to last for up to 24 hours!

Promising review: "The past two years I've really gotten into liquid lipstick. I've invested quite a bit of money to sample as many brands as possible to find one that lasts more then a few hours. Bottom line, after trying over a dozen different products (ranging from $30 to $4), this, is without a doubt, everything I've ever wanted. Perfect color, easy application, no feathering or drying. I can eat and drink with no transfer at all. I can even shower without it coming off or feathering. Last night I tried a new color of this and fell asleep with it on, woke up, and looked like I'd just applied it. I have six different colors so far. I'll never buy anything else." —rachel

Price: $7+ (available in 32 colors)

    20. NYX matte lipstick for a plush-looking pout that costs less than your morning coffee.

Still feel iffy about buying a lipstick without trying it on? This could be a great option for you, since NYX's website has an awesome feature that lets you use your computer's camera to virtually "try on" their shades!

Promising review: "This was a pretty good lipstick! The price is so affordable, which is one of the reasons that I'm a fan of NYX. Unlike their liquid lipsticks, this formula isn't too drying. As with any matte lip color, it will create a drying effect on your lips, but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting. I could go through my day without feeling like I had to constantly reapply lip balm, and the formula doesn't immediately create that cracking, clumping effect. There was only a slight cracking after a couple hours, but I feel like that's not really avoidable and it was barely noticeable. Surprisingly, my lips still felt soft when I touched them and it stayed on pretty well! As for the color (Honeymoon), it's so cute! When first applied, the color resembles a pink/light brown, but as it dries throughout the day, it fades to that nudish pink with a hint of mauve. It's both subtle yet striking, casual yet a statement lipstick. I'd recommend!" —Amazon Customer

Price: $3.59+ (available in five colors)

    21. Covergirl Exhibitionist lipstick, an affordable go-to that feels luxe — it's available in both cream and metallic options, and the cream formula is infused with shea butter!

Another plus? The classic drugstore brand recently went cruelty-free!

Promising review: "I ordered Bombshell Pink and it's a beautiful, bold hot pink. It will stain because the pigment is so strong, but if that's not an issue, this will be the best hot pink you've ever owned. In terms of quality, it applies amazingly and the color itself stays on quite well, with a soft, matte-look finish. It's not a stain so it's easy to remove, but after a cup of coffee it won't be gone. It's my favorite lipstick in a long time." —Brilmani

Price: $4.97+ (available in 44 colors)

    22. Wet N Wild Megalast Liquid Catsuit Lipstick in "Flame of the Game" for a red lip, classic thing that you'll like because it's cruelty-free, under $5, and sexy as heck.,

Promising review: "GUYS. I've never left a customer review on Amazon before and I place a lot of orders. I had to review this though. I'm a lipstick bitch. I've owned all kinds of lipsticks — all brands, all prices. I tried this because it was cheap, I'm ballin' on a budget right now, and I ran out of my red lip. GUYS, I'M SO SHOOK. This lipstick is less than $5 and is legit the same quality, if not better, than Stila liquid lipstick. The ONLY 'downside,' which isn't even a downside, is that the lipstick is a little bit more orange-red than a classic red, but I love it. I kissed my hand for a test and it didn't transfer at all. It feels soft and isn't like a damn desert on my lips. I always apply Burt's Bees lip balm first, so this might help, but it's so soft and not sticky. I LOVE IT. GET IT. BRB, ORDERING ALL THE COLORS." —Gabi Rodriguez
