SG5, the Japanese pop girl group who is the only group to officially collaborate with Sailor Moon, is here to destroy the darkness of the world with their moon prism power music.
Miyuu: We were very nervous. Before our performances, we are all usually together rather than being alone. We also encourage each other, by saying things like, "Everyone looks great today, you're so cute." This is important.
Rui: First of all, I'm looking forward to seeing more and more of SG5’s songs from now on! "Firetruck" was an energetic song, so I'd like to perform a mysterious song. Because we want to be a group that leads to confidence for everyone. We hope that when you listen to SG5's songs, you feel confident and strong! So, I would like to continue to deliver concepts that you can feel.
Kaede: I was inspired by the Disney Channel stars! When I was a little girl, I sang and danced to imitate the songs from the Disney Channel original movies, and I performed with my siblings every night in front of my family.
Sayaka: I’m inspired by Beyoncé, TLC, Ariana Grande, and Blackpink!
Ruri: I've liked Ayumi Hamasaki since I was little. Now, I listen to a lot of Western music, and I'm also interested in Avril Lavigne.
Miyuu: I can't choose one. I love so many people, and I learn a lot from many people. But In my opinion, I don't wanna copy them. I wanna be myself; for me, it's important to be myself. It's like...being original and being unique are so important. But I’m inspired by all pop stars.
Rui: I love Taylor Swift! I listen to her music and watch her perform. I’ve wanted to sing a song that sang about the delicate emotions and feelings of people, and I was blown away by her spectacular live performances.
Kaede: When I was a backup dancer in the live stage of Exile, a senior group from our company, the audience looked so happy, and I saw their sparkling smiles. I remember thinking I want to entertain many audiences like them! I want to express myself. I want to be the main performer, and that's when I decided to pursue a career in music.
Sayaka: When I was 9 years old, I was on stage as a kid dancer. From there, I started dreaming of becoming an artist like Exile who can make many people smile.
Ruri: I've loved singing since I was little, and my dream was to become a singer. I've been influenced by Ayumi Hamasaki's LIVE shows since I was little.
Miyuu: At first when I was 8, I danced on the stage of "Exile kids." I actually enjoyed it a lot. l remember the audience was having fun. My personality is very introverted, but when I'm dancing or when I'm standing on stage, I can become a different me, so it's fun!
Rui: I started dancing when I was 4 years old, and at that time, my dream was to become a backup dancer. But then, I grew to want to wear a glittery dress and stand on stage as an artist myself!
Sayaka: Improving our English, singing, and dancing skills. Kaede, Miyuu, and I started singing from this project, so we've all been taking voice training lessons from scratch. We also still take English conversation lessons almost every day so that we can talk to our fans as soon as possible.
Kaede: We have many goals, but first of all, we want as many people as possible to listen to our music, and we hope that as many people as possible will be cheered up and made happy by it and that our existence and our music will be close to our fans!
Sayaka: To be a group that can give people a supportive push on the back. Another goal is to go on a world tour as a group and to also appear at Coachella.
Miyuu: Our purpose is to share messages through our music and performances. We all know that we’re not the same. We're all different in a good way, we are all different and unique, and that’s beautiful. It's important to be yourself. Be proud of who you are, and know that we are all here together. Let’s embrace our diversity.
Ruri: I have a lot of dreams, but standing on Coachella's stage is a dream.
Rui: I want to become a global artist representing Japan and to perform at Coachella!
Ruri: The recording of our album is progressing now, and there are so many amazing songs beyond imagination, and we are desperately working on recording while also having fun. I can't wait to deliver our songs to everyone. Please look forward to it.
Kaede: Thank you for reading this interview so far! Please look forward to more music and performances from now on. We will do our best so that we can meet you all in person someday in a more mature form!
Guardians! Thank you for always supporting us! We love you all!
Kaede: Performing is my life! I've found myself singing and dancing since I was a kid, and even though it's been hard and I've fallen apart at times, I still haven't hated it. I've never met anything I love more than this. I can't imagine at all what I would be doing if I wasn't here now.
Sayaka: Music is something that stands by me and strengthens me. It’s also the place where I can shine the most.
Miyuu: Music is part of my life. It’s my motivation, but it also relaxes me.
Ruri: To me, it’s a very happy thing. So, I’ll do my best to deliver my favorite songs to many people.
Rui: I love J-pop, music, and performing. I also really enjoy going on stage and chatting, or going into the booth and recording. I'm performing and producing with the hope that you will find this group called SG5 and an artist named Rui among all of these other artists and will love us!
