Hoda Kotb Received An Outpouring Of Support After Breaking Down In Tears On The "Today" Show

"I also think a lot of things are contagious, including generosity."

Last night, New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany Brees, donated $5 million to the state of Louisiana for coronavirus relief.

And this morning, Drew appeared on the Today show for an interview with Hoda Kotb to talk about his generous donation, the impact of the coronavirus in New Orleans right now, and his family, as well as to share a message of hope.

Hoda wrapped the segment with Drew by expressing her hopes that his donation would spark similar actions from others.

She signed off by saying, "Drew, we love you," and then broke down into tears — a feeling that so many of us watching at home can relate to during these times.

During the poignant moment, Hoda's coanchor Savannah Guthrie comforted her and took over the next segment.

The moment was quickly shared on Twitter, with messages of support and understanding for Hoda flooding in instantly.

Later in the show, Savannah filled Hoda in on all of the love she's been getting.

And Hoda pinpointed exactly how isolating it can feel to have emotional moments during this time without being able to reach out and hug someone for support.

Savannah and Hoda wrapped the segment with Savannah by affirming that this "new normal" won't be forever and promising so many hugs to Hoda in the future.
