19 Pink Places You Need To Visit At Least Once

The millennial pink trend will never be over on Instagram.

1. Jaipur, India

Jaipur is often called "the pink city", as the majority of the buildings in its walled historic district are painted a pale pink. They were originally painted this colour in the 1800s to impress the visiting Prince of Wales. Then the Maharajah's favourite wife decided she loved the colour so much, it became law for all of Jaipur's buildings to be pink.

2. La Muralla Roja, Spain

This pink-walled apartment building in the small Mediterranean town of Calpe is pretty damn spectacular – just check out the Insta location if you don't believe me. The Arab-influenced architecture rising from the rocky cliffs along the coast is like nothing else you've seen. And even better, you can actually rent an apartment there on Airbnb.

3. Lake Hillier, Australia

Can you believe this lake is real and not just a filter? There are actually quite a few pink lakes dotted around the state of Western Australia, but this one's the best by far, especially contrasted against the blue sea. Its colour is caused by a micro-algae which can only live in very salty water.

4. Las Coloradas, Mexico

This collection of bubblegum pink lakes in Mexico is unfortunately now off-limits to swimmers. But that won't stop you from admiring from the shoreline – just pray for blue skies on the day you visit!

5. Takinoue Park, Japan

Located in a small town near the north of Japan, this park basically turns into a giant pink carpet during May and June each year. As well as being visually beautiful, it also smells amazing.

6. Cherry Blossoms, Japan

Springtime in Japan is a pretty awesome place. I'm sure you already know about cherry blossom season, so maybe it's finally time to pack a bag and go! There are a bunch of places around the country to enjoy the pink flowers – from the city of Tokyo, to the island of Hokkaido – so do some research and find your fave spot.

7. Craigievar Castle, Scotland

Nope, this isn't a set of a Disney movie. It's a real-life castle in the east of Scotland. It was inhabited by the same family for over 300 years until the 1960s when it was given to the National Trust. The great news is that it's open to the public if you want to take a tour.

8. Schloss Drachenburg, Germany

Another day, another pink castle. And this one looks even more like it's been pulled straight from the pages of a fairytale. It was only built in the late 1800s but looks like a gothic cathedral mixed with a medieval castle.

9. Nasir ol Molk Mosque, Iran

This mosque is truly beautiful inside and out. The colourful stained glass windows make it feel like you're stepping into another world, while the intricate wall tiles will have you mesmerised for hours.

This has gotta be one of the coolest restaurants in the city. Whether you go for brunch, afternoon tea, or dinner, you'll be greeted with delicious food and the most adorable damn interior you've ever seen.

11. Marrakech, Morocco

Just like Jaipur, Marrakech is often nicknamed the pink or red city due to the huge number of dusky pink buildings found on every street. Spend some time wandering around and checking out pink-walled laneways to your heart's content.

12. The Pink Cave House, Santorini

OK, Santorini is usually known for its pure white and bright blue houses covering the hillside, but what if I told you there was a millennial pink gem hidden in there too? This rental house on the famous Greek Island is the cutest, and has amazing views and a jacuzzi. What more do you need?

13. Big Pink, Miami

If you love Italian food and the colour pink (and who doesn't) then this place is for you! Both the inside and outside of this cafe and cocktail bar are decked out in every shade of pink imaginable – it honestly looks like Barbie's dream home!

16. Pink Sand Beach, Bahamas

The sand on this Caribbean beach appears pink, thanks to the presence of microscopic coral insects with red and pink shells. It feels as soft as talcum powder under your feet, and the water is the perfect colour and temperature. What a special spot!

17. Pink Street, Portugal

It's like following the yellow brick road... but pink. Rua Nova do Carvalho in Lisbon was painted in 2011 as part of a facelift for the neighbourhood – brothels and seedy bars were replaced with cool cafes and trendy nightspots. Which means you can snap a pic on the pink street, then follow it up with a cocktail or wine al fresco.

18. Normann, Denmark

Alright, it might be weird to include a furniture shop on this list. But Normann in Copenhagen has some seriously amazing interiors on show in its flagship store. From the millennial pink staircase to the baby pink armchairs and hot pink wall coverings, it's a dream. Best of all, you can buy your fave pieces to take home!
