21 TV And Movie Characters We Shipped Even Though We Knew They Would Never Get Together
Nimue and Morgana would make excellent girlfriends, who's with me?
We asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us about the TV and movie relationships we wished were real but knew would never actually be canon. Here are some of the results:
1. The Master and The Doctor, Doctor Who
I really ship these two, especially in the most recent season. Jodie’s Doctor and Sacha’s Master have so much chemistry. Not sure if it’ll happen, but I really hope it does. I would love to see these two together.
2. Draco Malfoy and Harry Potter, Harry Potter
I recently rewatched the movies and it just hit me like a wave. There is so much potential for a relationship there from the parallelism between the two characters, to the great chemistry they had. There was every reason for them to end up together.
3. Zuko and Katara, Avatar: The Last Airbender
Zuko and Katara had a million times more chemistry than Aang and Katara. It would have been a great enemies to lovers storyline that fit with Zuko's redemption arc, while Aang and Katara felt very forced.
4. Olivia Benson and Elliot Stabler, Law and Order: SVU
Olivia and Elliot had an amazing partnership as detectives, but their chemistry was also through the roof. Any time Olivia was in danger, Elliot swooped in like the concerned work husband he was.
5. Dean and Castiel, Supernatural
There's obvious chemistry between Castiel and Dean. I really think they should be together. It doesn't have to be a kiss or anything. It'd be nice for them to just recognize their feelings for each other.
6. Abed and Troy, Community
Troy and Abed have such a supportive, loving, synergistic relationship. It broke my heart to see Abed's reaction when Troy left.
7. Phoebe and Joey, Friends
Why does Phoebe marry Mike while Joey ends up alone? Phoebe and Joey had the best chemistry, and Joey cared for Phoebe way more than any girl he’d ever dated.
8. Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff, The Avengers
Steve and Natasha had such great chemistry, and their love story could've been developed so well over the 10-year time period! Nat and Bruce's relationship was so random and too cliche, whereas her and Steve would've worked so well!
9. Daryl Dixon and Beth Greene, The Walking Dead
Daryl and Beth's age difference was always iffy, but after the prison collapsed and they wound up together, they had some scenes that had me believing there was something between them.
10. Merlin and Arthur, Merlin
What can I say? I guess I love medieval ships where the dynamic is one person is made of sunshine and dorkiness and the other is angry and could kill you.
11. Bellamy and Clarke, The 100
Bellamy and Clarke have literally been in love with each other since Season 1, and with each season it becomes more obvious that they should be more than friends.
12. Seamus Finnigan and Dean Thomas, Harry Potter
Seamus and Dean are literally my only Harry Potter ship. I love their dynamic, with Seamus being erratic and dangerous, ready to commit arson, and a much calmer Dean nevertheless always there to say, "HELL YES!"
13. Poe and Finn, Star Wars
Poe and Finn have so much chemistry, and they even met in such a great way with a perfect rescue meet-cute.
14. Damon and Bonnie, The Vampire Diaries
Damon and Bonnie had great chemistry, and it would have been a good subplot for them to have a hate-to-love relationship. Even Ian Somerhalder said he wanted them to get together.
15. Nimue and Morgana, Cursed
Sure, they're good friends, but I think they could also be good romantic partners. I was annoyed that Nimue started a relationship with Arthur, Morgana's brother, especially since he took her sword at one point.
16. Aziraphale and Crowley, Good Omens
The actors' chemistry was off the charts. They were complete opposites of each other, which was the perfect setup for them to get together. They balanced each other out so well and showed each other how to be better.
17. Emma and Regina, Once Upon a Time
Emma and Regina literally co-parented their child together. Every time they worked together and saved the town as a pair, it made me wish they would have a romantic relationship.
18. Derek Morgan and Penelope Garcia, Criminal Minds
There were too many moments where Morgan and Garcia's relationship definitely surpassed friendship, yet they somehow still aren't together.
19. Raven Reyes and John Murphy, The 100
I love Raven and Murphy's development so much. They have a great friendship, but sometimes I wish there would be more between them.
20. Kiara and JJ, Outer Banks
Kiara and JJ would be great together. Kie and Pope have literally no chemistry, and their relationship came out of nowhere. She would have been so much better off with JJ.
21. Luke and Evie, Lovesick
I think if they had explored it, Evie and Luke would be great together. Evie made Luke a better person and helped him to be more mature, while Luke made Evie open up and be less uptight. The way they supported each other was fantastic and it would have translated well into a romantic relationship.
