Here's What's Coming To Netflix Australia In December

*Gets slightly stressed out because there's TOO many good things to watch.*

Hello and welcome to what is basically the start of the festive season! Christmas decorations are going up, the weather is getting warmer and everyone is counting down the days until they can put their out of office on.

To get us even more excited for the holiday break, Netflix Australia have dropped their December schedule and it is jam-packed full of goodies. So, let's get started!

Hulu

First, let's talk about all the new original TV shows that will be released next month. The ones I'm most excited about are Alice In Borderland (December 10), Bridgerton (December 25) and Equinox (December 30).

If you're a fan of video games and dystopian thrillers, Alice In Borderland will definitely be your cup of tea. It follows a video game-obsessed man who, after finding himself in a strange version of Tokyo, has to compete against other visitors to survive.

Speaking of a tea — aka hot gossip — Bridgerton is something I already know I'm going to become obsessed with. It's been described as Gossip Girl meets Downton Abbey and focuses on Daphne — the eldest daughter of the powerful Bridgerton family — as she makes her debut onto Regency London's competitive marriage market. P.S. I highly recommend watching the trailer — it's all sorts of scandalous.

In a completely different vibe is Equinox, which sounds like a paranormal spookfest. The story starts in 1999 when a class of graduating students disappears without a trace. Astrid, whose sister was one of those affected, becomes traumatised and plagued by horrific visions. Later, in 2020, she starts having nightmares again and is contacted by one of the survivors from the 1999 disappearance through her late-night radio show.

Plus, look out for Selena: The Series (December 4), Detention (December 5) and Tiny Pretty Things (December 14).

Selena: The Series explores the life of Selena Quintanilla before she became the Queen of Tejano Music. The journey begins with Selena taking on small gigs to rising up and becoming the most successful Latina singer of all time.

Meanwhile, Detention has mystery and suspense written all over it. It follows a student who uncovers unsettling secrets at her remote high school as betrayal and paranormal encounters upend her life.

Lastly, Tiny Pretty Things focuses on the highs, lows, drama and cutthroat competition that comes with attending an elite ballet school.

Oh, and two of your faves — Big Mouth: Season 4 (December 4) and Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina: Part 4 (December 31) — will be returning with new seasons, too!

Oh man, I don't know how they're going to wrap up everything, considering that this is the last and final season of CAOS. But, I'll definitely be watching (for the plot, but also Nick Scratch).

Next, let's move on to some must-watch movies which will be premiering, like Rose Island (December 9), The Prom (December 11), The Midnight Sky (December 23) and Cops And Robbers (December 28).

While I was scrolling the Netflix lineup, the description of Rose Island immediately got me interested. It's about an idealistic engineer who builds his own island off the coast of Italy and declares it a nation. Say, what?!?! I can't wait to watch it!

Next up, we've got a new musical comedy film from Ryan Murphy called The Prom, which also features a star-studded cast. Think Meryl Streep, James Corden, Nicole Kidman, Kerry Washington and a whole heap of other names. The plot revolves around a group of aspiring Broadway stars who shake up life in small-town Indiana as they rally behind a teen fighting to bring her girlfriend to prom.

There's also The Midnight Sky, a post-apocalyptic thriller starring George Clooney as Augustine, a lonely scientist in the Arctic. The twist? He must stop a group of astronauts from returning home to a mysterious global catastrophe.

And finally, Cops And Robbers, which is a short animated film based on a spoken word poetry video created in response to the murder of Ahmaud Arbery.

But, if none of those tickle your Netflix appetite, then there'll also be a tonne of old favourites available on December 1, including New York Minute, 50 First Dates, Final Destination 1 and 2 and a bunch more.

There's something about all of these films which never gets old. Like, 50 First Dates will always be cute and make me cry a little bit, while Final Destination is such a good horror flick.

And I've saved the best for last, obviously, because it's not really the festive season unless you've watched at least one holiday-themed movie. You can look forward to Angela's Christmas Wish (December 1), Just Another Christmas. (December 3), and A California Christmas (December 14),

This adorable looking animated flick follows a young girl called Angela, as she launches a plan to find her way from Ireland to Australia so she can reunite with her family in time for Christmas.

On the other hand, Just Another Christmas is about a family man (that hates the holidays, mind you) who gets stuck in a time loop where it's forever Christmas.

Lastly, A California Christmas has a dabble of romance, with a wealthy charmer posing as a ranch hand to get a hardworking farmer to sell her family's land before Christmas. But, I'm guessing things ~happen~, if you get what I mean.
