People Are Sharing Their Unpopular Movie Opinions And Oh My, The Tea Is Piping Hot
Not liking Frozen? Yeah, count me in.
Last night a viral Reddit thread asked users, "Which insanely popular or successful movie do you secretly hate but are afraid to say in the open fearing backlash from fans?"
The thread quickly blew up with a bunch of ~juicy~ opinions which were too good not to share. Here are some of the best ones.
1. Bohemian Rhapsody

"I'm scared to say this but Bohemian Rhapsody. I'm a massive Queen fan and love Freddie Mercury, but I had some issues with the movie. I thought Rami Malek did an amazing job and I walked away from the movie feeling great and inspired, but I have my qualms."
2. Black Panther

"Try being a black person and saying that you don't like Black Panther. I told some of my family members that I thought it was a fine movie, but wasn't like an Oscar contender. You would've thought I said slavery didn't happen or something. That said, I still found it to be a very entertaining and important movie. I just don't think that makes it 'great'."
3. Frozen

"Watched it once, thought "eh Disney," and six years later remnants of it still continue to surface."
4. Anything related to Marvel or DC
"I just generally find the whole concept of superheroes to be silly and lame and don't care for anything Marvel or DC. But you can't goddamn escape them, for over a DECADE. I'm so tired."
5. The Greatest Showman

"I absolutely abhor The Greatest Showman. I think it’s obnoxious, heavy handed and an unoriginal tool used to pander to a modern audience that craves a feeling of unique and special individuality. I remember telling my friends how much I hated it after I saw it and my friend’s husband got really upset with me and then proceeded to write a Facebook post about how I was “simply out of touch” because I didn’t like the movie. Wild."
6. The Hunger Games

"The Hunger Games is probably my favourite book series but the first three movies suck. I didn't watch the last one."
7. Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them

"I used to be a huge fan of Harry Potter (those movies ain't that great, either) and Rowling completely lost my respect with this obvious cash grab that demolished the original universe. It just makes me angry. I have no clue why people like it."
8. Jurassic World

"I don't get how it became so popular. I secretly wanted the dinosaurs to win and eat all the main characters."

9. Monty Python and the Holy Grail

"My wife hates Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I'm wondering if I should be considering a divorce."
10. La La Land

"It was just a love letter to musicals of the past. Well done but not groundbreaking or particularly memorable in and of itself. All of my friends who had never really seen musicals went crazy for it and I couldn't stand hearing the songs from it."
11. Ready Player One

"As someone very close to nerd culture, I saw it as cheap mass market pandering with the same gormless nerd boy gets magic dream girl plot that demeans us all. It was just garbage."
12. Wonder Woman

"I found the movie to be extremely underwhelming and a mediocre movie at best. I’m 100% for more strong female leads (I’m a woman myself and I definitely think mainstream media needs to do a better job showing the diversity of women with strength and power), but I felt like Wonder Woman barely scraped the surface when it comes to displaying strength physically (e.g. realistic muscle mass) and emotionally (e.g. boring plot and superficial motivations)."
13. E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial

"I fucking hate E.T. Weird-ass alien creep."
14. Avatar

"I really don't understand everyone's love of it, or why there will be a sequel. I just found it painful to watch."
15. The Hobbit

"I read The Hobbit twice and was so thrilled for the movies to come out. The first was way too animated and catered too much to younger kids in my opinion. Didn't even bother with the second one. They just don't feel like they're part of the LOTR universe that Peter Jackson perfected with the original trilogy of films."
16. Mr Bean

"Like I get it, but I don’t want to watch more than 30 seconds of it."
17. Napoleon Dynamite

"My god, what a dumb movie."
18. The Godfather

"Growing up it seemed like The Godfather was everyone's favourite movie and hyped to the highest of heavens. When I would say that I hadn't watched it yet, I would get retorts of "OMG, why not? It's the best movie ever!" all the time followed by looks of disappointment and disbelief. When I finally did see it, I thought it was a decent movie but nothing really worth all that hype."
19. The Notebook

"I don’t get what’s so romantic about a guy hanging on a ferris wheel to make you go on a date with him. That’s basically blackmailing."
20. The Dark Knight trilogy

"Christopher Nolan's Batman trilogy got worse with every subsequent installment. Batman Begins was an amazing film. The Dark Knight suffers from many plot holes, oversaturation of characters and a lacklustre, message-less finale. And Dark Knight Rises is just plain bad. Unbelievable villains, no sense of time progression, glaring gaps in narrative and a closing scene that invalidates the whole damn movie.
It went from excellent, to disappointing, to outright shit in my opinion."
21. Mamma Mia!

"I can’t STAND that godforsaken movie. I’ve given it two chances and still no dice. I will never see the hype in it."
