This is 18-year-old Kerrington Keyes from Raleigh, North Carolina. He is a student at East Carolina University.
In February, Keyes and his friends posted this video to TikTok and accidentally started a challenge. He told BuzzFeed News it all came together at 3am while he was hanging out with his friends.
While Keyes made the TikTok back in February, the fact that more and more people were going into isolation meant that everyone was at home. A lot of people, especially families, started to re-create his video.
Tried to teach my Ethiopian parents the something new challenge and this is how it went 😂🤦🏾♀️
Tried the something new challenge with my Sudanese parents, good bonding time 😂My dad ran down the stairs so late lmfaaaoooooo 🇸🇸
Keyes said one of his favourite videos was by LeBron James and his family.
And this one by Cameron Henderson (@thekingofweird) is another favourite because his take was so creative.
Keyes said he was surprised to see it become so viral because when he had posted it initially it only got a few hundred views.
He said: "But six days later, I was at a birthday dinner and I started receiving a lot of notifications on TikTok and saw how a lot of people were starting to like it.
"I never really created it [with] the intentions of it becoming as huge as it did, but I’m glad that people all across the world are having fun and being expressive."
Wiz Khalifa, who made the song, also took part in the challenge with his family.
Wiz Khalifa released "Something New" in 2017 and it features Ty Dolla $ign.
