1. Ellen Page (Vanya) collaborated with showrunner Steve Blackman on Vanya and Sissy's storyline this season because she didn't want it to feel like a tragedy.
2. Kate Walsh (The Handler) said she had to pretend to swallow A.J. (the fish), which was difficult, and she hoped the end result "didn't look super dirty!"
3. Blackman says his writers room has passionate arguments about time traveling and paradoxes and what makes the most sense.
4. When Vanya saved Harlan from the lake, it wasn't actually a lake IRL. It was just a giant pit!
5. Ellen said that Season 2 Vanya felt like playing a different Vanya from Season 1, since Season 1 Vanya was more sad and anxious.
6. Robert Sheehan (Klaus) followed Justin H. Min (Ben) around to study his movements so that he could accurately attempt to personify him in the scene where Ben possesses Klaus.
7. Justin said Robert was "being annoying all season mimicking me every chance he got" in order to practice to sell his performance.
8. In his scene with Ellen, Justin also said it was great to speak to a character other than Robert on screen.
9. Aidan Gallagher (Number Five) said he would listen to "The Black Parade" to get into an emotionally intense state for the scenes where he was experiencing time psychosis.
10. When the cast first got the script for Season 2, Episode 10, the last pages were missing, so they didn't know the twist of The Sparrow Academy at first.
11. David Castañeda (Diego) wore a wig all of Season 2 despite growing his hair out (because they had to film some "Season 1" Diego scenes).
12. Emmy was equal parts nervous and honored to tackle the Civil Rights Movement in the '60s this season.
13. Justin said shooting was funny because the crew had to shoot multiple scenes when he was with the family — one shot with him in it, one shot with him out of it.
14. Justin says he gets tons of messages with theories about how Ben dies, but even he doesn't know — yet.
15. The World War III scene was shot on a green screen. Each actor was shot individually.
16. Aidan Gallagher (Five) said he does his best to learn the choreography for scenes in between school.
17. The crew didn't get a clean take of the seven siblings in the elevator when Luther farts. In the background, you can see David (Diego) laughing.
18. Tom Hopper (Luther) kept laughing in the scene where he tells Ellen (Vanya) that she blew up the moon.
19. David accidentally released the Season 2 poster on social media before he was allowed and he was asked to take it down.
20. The cast would read or play Scrabble during their downtime on set.
21. Showrunner Steve Blackman wanted Season 2 to feel bigger than Season 1, and he also wanted to "step it up" with the VFX in Season 2.
22. A lot of the Dallas, Texas scenes were shot in northern Ontario.
23. However, they did go to Dallas to film on the Grassy Knoll.
24. Blackman hinted that we just might meet some of the other 43 kids in the next season.
25. Blackman had a goal of keeping episodes 50 minutes long (or less) this season because he felt like it was a "digestible" amount of time with other TV show competition out there vying for people's attention.
26. The dance number in the salon was at first meant to be a choreographed dance, but it changed to Vanya, Allison, and Klaus impromptu dancing last minute in order to fit better with the scene. They got three hours worth of dancing footage!
27. The snow in Episode 10 is real due to a snow storm that unexpectedly came through Toronto, so the snow had to then be written into the fight scene.
28. During that fighting in the snow scene, Emmy slipped, fell, ripped her pants, and twisted her ankle. Thankfully, she was okay!
29. And finally, Tom (Luther) pulled his hamstring running in the snow. He is also okay.
