Sophie Turner Had Some Thoughts About Sansa’s Ending On “Game Of Thrones”

“I think Sansa stopped wanting that throne, she stopped wanting to rule over people the minute she got to King’s Landing.”

Game of Thrones fans know Sophie Turner as the iconic Sansa Stark. Before Season 8 premiered, many of us were worried about her fate. After all, this show does have a reputation for killing characters we love.

SPOILER ALERT: Sansa lives. Not only does she live, but she becomes Queen in the North.

In an interview with the Wrap, Sophie spoke about her feelings on Sansa’s ending, saying, “I think it is a better thing for Sansa. The one thing she always strived for throughout the whole series was to be back home — home, home, home. She wanted to be at Winterfell with her family, with the North. It’s where she felt most comfortable, most safe.”

Many fans of the show wanted to see Sansa ruling in some capacity, but Sophie didn’t think she would be the best fit for the Iron Throne.

But lots of fans seemed ecstatic about where she ended up:

the one thing i'm happy with in the game of thrones finale is that sansa got the ending she truly deserved. a legendary character with the absolute most growth. we stan. long live the queen of the north.

Out of everyone who deserved a happy ending Sansa Stark deserved it most #GameofThrones

Plus, we know Sansa has a fierce and protective love for Winterfell. So it kind of makes sense that she would want to stay there. Sophie also mentioned that she’s not power hungry because she’s actually SEEN what a lot of power can do to someone.

In regard to Bran ruling over the Six Kingdoms, Sophie was literally JUST as surprised as all of us. She mentioned “none of us, no one” in the cast guessed it would be him and that “it was a shock.”

As for the ending for each of the other Starks, Sophie wished for a different ending — at first. She didn’t want the Starks to be separated. I MEAN, SAME.

Welp, this *is* Game of Thrones, after all. We should have known that nobody would get a perfect ending! But we can probably agree that Sansa’s was pretty good.
