Here's Every Single Thing We Know About "The Umbrella Academy" Season 4

    Season 4 will have just six episodes instead of 10 like the previous seasons.

    I heard a rumor that...Season 4 of The Umbrella Academy is on its way. After the bonkers ending of Season 3, it can't come soon enough.

    🚨SPOILER WARNING for The Umbrella Academy Season 3🚨

    In case you need a refresher, Season 3 ended with Luther, Viktor, Five, Klaus, and Allison all losing their powers after Allison reset the universe. This ~universal reboot~ also saw Reginald Hargreeves reunited with his long-lost wife Abigail.

    So, here are all the little tidbits we know about the new season to keep you excited until it premieres:

    1. Season 4 will be the final season of the show.

    "I'm so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings' journey we began five years ago," said showrunner Steve Blackman. "But before we get to that conclusion, we've got an amazing story ahead for Season 4, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes."

    2. The first three seasons all had 10 episodes, but Season 4 will consist of six episodes, as confirmed by Steven Blackman on Twitter.

    3. There isn't an official, specific release date for the new season, but Netflix confirmed that the show will return for its farewell season in 2024.

    Since there are only six episodes and the show started filming very early this year, everything seems to indicate that filming was unaffected by the WGA strike that started in May.  But while the writers strike may be over, actors are still not allowed to promote struck projects during the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, so Netflix may be waiting to release the new season until the cast can do one last press run.

    4. Season 4 started filming in February 2023 and appears to have wrapped at the end of May.

    6. The title of the first episode of the new season is "The Unbearable Tragedy of Getting What You Want," written by Steve Blackman and Jesse McKeown.

    7. The series finale will be called "The End of Beginning."

    8. The plot details for Season 4 are under heavy spoiler guard, but as we saw at the end of Season 3, the Hargreeves siblings no longer have powers. It's safe to assume that their acclimation to human life will be a major plot point in the new season.

    Other plot lines we can hope/expect to see resolved include:

    –Allison's betrayal of her siblings so she could be with her daughter

    –Luther's search for his missing wife Sloane, and whether or not she remembers him (or even exists?) in the new universe.

    –Whatever Ben is doing on that train in South Korea in the last shot of Season 3.

    –Reginald's connection to the kids in the new universe.

    And maybe, just maybe, we'll learn what the hell happened to Ben in the original timeline? IDK, a girl can dream.


    9. Jeremy Webb and Paco Cabezas are confirmed to direct for Season 4.

    Webb has directed at least one episode every season so far, and Cabezas directed episodes 8 and 9 of Season 3.

    10. All of the original Hargreeves kids will be back for the last batch of episodes.

    Elliot Page, Tom Hopper, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Aidan Gallagher, Justin H. Min, David Castañeda, and Ritu Arya will all be back. We can probably also expect to see Colm Feore and Liisa Repo-Martell as Reginald and Abigail Hargreeves.

    No word yet on most of the Sparrows, including Sloane (Genesis Roodriguez), who married Luther at the end of Season 3 but is missing in the new universe.

    11. At least one character who died in the old timeline will be back! Jayme Hargreeves aka Sparrow Number Six (Cazzie David) will appear in Season 4.

    12. Megan Mullally and Nick Offerman will join the cast as Dr. Jean Thibedeau and her husband, Dr. Gene Thibedeau.

    Drs. Jean and Gene Thibedeau are a married pair of community college professors who wear sensible footwear and suffer from "an extreme case of deja vu."

    13. David Cross is also joining the cast as Sy Grossman.

    Sy Grossman is "an upstanding, shy business owner and family man desperate to reconnect with his estranged daughter."

    14. Finally, there will be two more new characters — Kailee, a waitress, and Cassius Newman, an attorney — but the casting for those hasn't been announced yet.
