James Gandolfini in True Romance, although he technically may have been in more than one scene in the background, I'm pretty sure he only had one active, speaking scene.
Definitely Isabelle Fuhrman in Orphan. She was like 10 years old at the time, playing and adult pretending to be a child, and I was completely sold on the performance. Probably one of the most underrated film and performance of that year.
