A long string of fairy lights draped over a window curtain
    Amazon

It comes with eight different light modes, including a *twinkle* mode, with a controller attached to the lights so you can easily switch between them.

Promising review: "OK, so it's quarantine time. Life is a bit grim. You want a little bit more light in your sphere, so you see these, and you think, maybe. Well, I'm here to turn your 'maybe' into a 'yes.' Not only do these lights add a bit more illumination to a bedroom that's quite dark, but they're just so magical and fairy-like. They infuse a little bit of joy into my world that I really appreciate. I have beams going across my ceiling, so I ended up stringing them across the whole room. I also appreciate that the remote (which is another warning part of the actual strand of lights) has various settings depending on your mood. I usually opt for the stable one, but these offer several modes. ENJOY!" —Tess

    amazon.com

Promising review: "This product is brilliant! Before buying this I had a similar set up but the base attached directly to the air vent which I didn't like very much. This design is so much better! I used it for over three weeks now which includes a lot of driving and needing my phone for maps direction. Very strong magnet holds tight and doesn't ever fall out. Fine point pens in 18 different colors
    amazon.com

Perhaps most importantly for anyone out there planning to go full Leslie Knope on these is that they're designed not to bleed through thin pages!

Promising review: "I bought these pens during quarantine, not expecting much, considering they are quite inexpensive. I've used well-known brand marker/pens in the past, and didn't want to pay much for markers I'd use for coloring. I was concerned about the tips bending or bleeding, but I was completely wrong and am very satisfied with this product! They do not bleed, and the tips are strong and thin. I use these pens for coloring, hand lettering, and note taking, and they're exactly what I was looking for! The only regret I have is that I did not order the larger pack with more colors!!" —Michael Fanizzi

Get a set of 18 from Amazon for $7.99.

Promising review: "First of all I get so many compliments, I am able to cover my face from the rain plus and able to clearly see where I am going, basically a 360 view of everything. When In crowded areas it’s very convenient because I doesnt take up so much space like a traditional umbrella but it’s wide enough to cover myself and my backpack." —LISA

    amazon.com, amazon.com

Promising review: "This scarf looks a lot more expensive than it actually is, which is just lovely. The material is a lot softer than I expected for the price and it is not scratchy against the skin in the slightest. The plaid pattern is beautiful and it is large enough to drape around me as a shawl, or to loop around my neck a few times as a scarf. It has kept my neck warm today in high 30-degree temperatures." —Sting

Promising review: "I am not a good cook, I’ll admit. I’m one of those 'burn a salad' kind of girls. In quarantine I’ve decided to expand my horizons and try new ways to make food. Outside of my air fryer this is the best product I own. One can figure out how to work it with no instructions (ask me how I know) and it cooks waffles PERFECTLY every time. I was so thrilled with the way my food came out I tried it again to ensure it wasn’t a fluke and guess what — it's not! At the price point I know what all my family and friends are getting for Christmas! Easy to use and clean and store. I would recommend this to everyone." —Danielle

    Amazon

This little power bank can charge *deep breath*: the iPhone SE, 11, 11 Pro, 11 Pro Max, Xs Max, XR, XS, X, 8, and 8 Plus; AirPods; and the Galaxy S20, S10, S9, S8, and Galaxy Note 10, 9, and 8.

Promising review: "I gave up on wireless charging years ago. Not reliable and super slow. This one seems to charge my mophie battery case faster than being plugged directly into the charger. How does that work? As long as you know where to place your phone it seems to charge fine. And the blue light is nice to show its charging. But for the price you can't go wrong. You could easily make something to hold this and your phone if you really wanted to. Long as you place it in the middle though it really is fine." —DJK

Get it from Amazon for $11.95.

    11. Essence's Lash Princess mascara for instant length so effective, it won't even matter that you were just crying tears of mascara in the bathroom — honey, life *is* just a classroom.

    Emma Lord/BuzzFeed

Hello, that is my face above, because I bought into the hype of over 35,000 positive reviews and now I will never look back!! Putting it on is like giving my eyelashes butterfly wings. It doesn't get clumpy, it stays put ALL the live long day (I spent all of this ridiculously hot pandemic summer wearing it, so I can speak to that), and you can apply it on very lightly if you don't want it to look so dramatic, or continue applying for longer lashes each time.

Promising review: "I don't write a ton of reviews, but after a week of use I had to come give some praise! This mascara is seriously fabulous. I have thin, sparse lashes, and I'd basically given up on my natural lashes looking flush, full, long and voluminous. I saw great reviews for this mascara and figured 'Eh, it's cheaper than what I use right now, why not give it a go?' Pure magic my friends. From the first swipe my lashes looked longer and more voluminous. I sent a picture to my friends, who I've often relayed my lash woes, and they were astonished! The first day I just did one coat. Today I did several, and my lashes could blow away they're so full and long. Love it! I didn't notice any smudging or flaking, but I'm going to try the waterproof one next for some variety (and for weddings, cannot keep my eyes dry at a wedding!)" —Amazon Customer

Get it from Amazon for $4.99.

    Fenty Beauty

Promising review (for the Lip Paint): "I deal with dry lips. I hate sticky lipsticks that get clumpy or feel sandy. I got the Uncuffed and I loved it. It stood on all day even with the mask. It did slightly smear but that was expected while wearing a mask. What was amazing was that it doesn't get sticky or tacky. It stood on all day long even after eating and drinking. It kept my lips moisturized and I am definitely a fan. I will be ordering more colors for sure." —Cynthia 1982

Promising review (for the Shimmer Skinstick): "I just bought this blush I'm really happy I did. It is absolutely beautiful, it melts into your skin and look so natural. Doesn't feel sticky at all which was my major concern. This color is bomb." —Andrea Zimone

Package was well-cushioned and materials were biodegradable. Will order from this seller again!" —ardendevelle

    15. A bottle of Drop It, a natural wine sulfate and tannin remover to prevent wine-related allergies and migraines, particularly when August sips away like a bottle of wine.

Reviewer image of glass of red wine with a bottle of Drop It, along with a caption explaining that it's been working
    amazon.com

It's also a lot more cost-effective and environmentally-friendly than wine wands or other competitors — a single bottle of this can be used to treat up to 55 glasses of wine, as opposed to wands that can only do a few glasses each before they get tossed. Plus, this is a heck of a lot easier to use if you want to drink out at a restaurant without pulling out a "wine wand" and calling attention to yourself. Drop It recommends 1-2 drops for each glass of white wine, 2-3 for a glass of red, and 7-9 if you're treating the whole bottle at once. Once it's in the glass, swirl lightly for 20 seconds, and you should be raring to go!

Promising review: "For many years, I have been that friend that always says 'no thanks, I can't drink wine.' Even one small small glass would give me the worst migraine. So I gave up. Several weeks ago, I happened across an ad for Drop It and thought I might as well give it a shot. I took a big risk the day it arrived and had two huge glasses of red wine that I knew would give me a massive migraine the next day. It just so happened I had a midterm that next morning too — so the stakes were high. I woke up feeling fantastic. Since then I have repeated the experiment (to make sure it wasn't a fluke) and found that no matter how much wine I drink, as long as I use the drops, I don't have a migraine the next day. I'm so pleased to have found something that makes wine drinking possible and enjoyable again! I have nothing but great things to say about the product. It's easy to use and very discreet. I visited some friends last week and we spent a few hours at a wine bar. It was easy to add my drops. I took a small taste of the wine before adding the drops and found that it did not alter the taste at all. Thanks for a great product and a great buying experience. I will be back for more." —Mackenzie

Get it from Amazon for $14.99.

    16. ... Or a red wine stain removing spray for when something is literally all over you like a wine-stained dress you can't wear anymore.

A before and after shot of a wine-stained white shirt with the stain removed from the spray
    Amazon

Promising review: "My pale blue dress shirt was stained with red wine at a destination wedding. The stain covered about 20 percent of the front of the shirt, and I had pretty much written it off as a loss. A week later, I finally had time to deal with it and decided to order Wine Away and give it a shot, thinking I was being overly optimistic at my chances of saving the shirt. I sprayed the shirt down as I was running out the door for work and left it sitting on the kitchen table (at this point it had been about two weeks since it was stained). When I returned from work, the stain was completely gone — no blotting, rubbing, or any work required other than spraying it down. One trip through the laundry and the shirt was good as new." —Josh Elliot

Get it from Amazon for $6.50.

    17. A ridiculously popular "cat dancer" toy so when there's nothing you hate more than what you can't have and you guess you'll just stumble on home to your cats (alone!!), you'll still have a good time.

    amazon.com, amazon.com

If you are looking for an immediate LOL, please head straight to the review images of this little gizmo — pages and pages of kitty cats losing their marbles. It is goodness and absurdity and light.

Promising review: "I have a whole room filled with cat toys that my cat is not interested in. It's funny how the least expensive cat toy I have makes him go crazy. He plays with this until he's panting like a dog and I have never seen him jump so high. I'm certain this toy will help him lose his belly. He loves it! I highly recommend it!" —Kwoo

    18. A cooling weighted blanket to soothe anxiety and insomnia so effectively you'll feel like you've been sleeping so long in a 20-year dark night before you see daylight.

A weighted blanket spread out on a king-sized bed
    Amazon

Promising review: "Quarantine had me lonely, so I got this and it really helped me sleep. It feels like a hug. My friend, many states away, was stressed and lonely in his quarantine, so I got him one too, and he sleeps like a baby now. Wonderful for self or gift. I don't personally find it too hot in the summer if it's under 74 degrees, but If it's hotter than that, it might be too hot/heavy. Highly recommend." —Penny

Get it from Amazon for $35.99+ (available in nine varied sizes and weights).

A model pushing a green pellet into a potted plant's soil
    Amazon

Promising review: "I DO NOT have a green thumb, which is why I have a lot of sick plants inside my house. I have a LOT of plants on my patio that were dying and a lot that I had had to throw away. I decided (before I completely gave up) to try plant food (duh)! I purchased these plant food spikes and a container of the Miracle-Gro liquid plant food. I rotate them when it's time to 'feed' the plants again. Yesterday my A/C repairman asked me what I was doing to make my plants so pretty! No one has ever asked me that before! I showed him the spikes and the Miracle-Gro. **Now I know these say they are for 'indoor' plants, but the employee in the 'garden' dept told me they worked just as well for outside plants.....I couldn't find any that were for outside plants so I took a chance on these and he was right." —Shirley C.

    20. A gorgeous pastel paint-by-number, because even if you never painted by the numbers, baby (you were making it count!!), it's still a hobby worth exploring.

    21. A set of Table Topics cards perfect for when you're standing alone in a crowded room and you're not speaking.

    Amazon

There are 22 full sets available, ranging from general topics to themed ones like Dinner Party, Date Night, Family Gathering, Teens, and Travel, so now you won't ever not know what to say since the twist of fate when it all broke down!

Promising review: "My partner and I are currently long-distance and rely on daily Skype calls to keep in touch. It occurred to me that we could be spending this time getting to know each other better rather than just talking about our respective days at work, what we had for lunch, what we're each watching on Netflix etc. I wasn't sure if he would be into the idea but he likes this activity as much if not more than I do. It's amazing the things you realize you don't know about somebody and would never in a million years think to ask, but can be so revealing. Last round we drew 'Would you rather be the best player on a losing team, or the worst player on a winning team?' and the things he brought up as he was reasoning through his answer just reminded me how much I admire about his character. It might sound crazy that we are getting this much out of this simple game but communication is all we have available to connect with each other and this is really working for us. I'll definitely order more cards when we get through these and I plan to keep them on our dinner table when we are one day living in the same location — always more to learn!" —LMdC

Get it from Amazon for $25 (available in 22 themed sets).

    22. A Bluetooth-enabled record player so you can hide away and find your peace of mind with an indie record that's muuuch cooler than theirs.

    Amazon

Promising review: "This thing is great! The output is great. Very loud and clear with no distortion. I put the first record on it this morning and the audio quality and overall functionality is awesome. It also makes a great bluetooth speaker as well. The briefcase design makes it great for moving it room to room or traveling places with it. I highly recommend this turntable to both the beginner who's looking to get into vinyl and even the hardcore collector that's just looking for something more portable with some good sound!" —D. Morris

Promising review: "These are great! I got the strawberry margarita for myself and the Old Fashioned for my partner. He is a big Old Fashioned drinker, and has strong opinions about what makes a good one versus a bad one, and he was very impressed with the flavor this infused into the bourbon. Such an easy way to make more interesting drinks at home, especially now when we can’t easily go out to bars!" —Katelynn Tracey

Promising review: Such a simple idea, how is this just coming into my life now? I didn't think showers could get any better but now I have a brew/wine within reach at all times. Really helps take the edge off after a long day. The thing is way sturdier than you'd expect, I've tugged on it and it's not going anywhere. The slotted design allows you to use stemmed wineglasses too. A truly perfect product. This $13 piece of plastic is working as hard as my therapist and I stan." —Steven
