27 Brilliant Songs To Listen To This February

This month’s aesthetic: Fifty shades of February love songs.

1. “Fresh Eyes” by Andy Grammer

I have not been able to get this song out of my head since I first heard it a few weeks ago. Also the lyrics are ~the cutest~. My wizened grinch of a heart expands three sizes every time I hear it.

2. ” ILYSB” by LANY

Lany

Dreamy sounds and love sick lyrics, I’m on board.

3. “Girls Like Girls” by Hayley Kiyoko

One of my all time favourite songs and very timely for Valentine’s Day – because if we’re going to be celebrating love, we should be celebrating every kind. And also I kind of want every outfit in this music video, this is my summerwear moodboard.

4. “Atalanta” by Rina Mushonga

Dutch-Zimbabwean songstress Rina Mushonga is 100% one to watch. Not only are her jerky beats addictive as all hell, she does strong female empowerment vibes very well.

5. “Love On The Brain” by Rihanna

If you have to listen to soppy love songs, at least make it this wonderfully slow track from Rihanna.

6. “The Song” by Zion T

Like, yes, the smooth vintage sound of this Zion T track is very good. But we all know what I’m really here for. That pastel music video. MMM PASTELS.

7. “Love Myself” by Hailee Steinfeld

Self love. It’s great. Let Hailee Steinfeld explain why.

8. “Don’t Leave” by Snakehips & MØ

“I may not ever get my shit together.” I have never related to a song lyric so hard.

9. “Gingerbread Man” by Melanie Martinez

Sugar sweet vocals that’ll give you a cavity and a trippy melody I can’t stop listening to. This tune is like musical crack.

10. “I’ll Be There For You” by The Rembrandts

A solid reminder to love your friends extra hard this month too. In fact, just love them extra hard all year round, because your friends are great.

11. “Nature” by Kyko

“Everybody’s flirting, but you keep running from the water and it’s coming to get you.” My kind of love song.

12. “Not About Love” by Aluna George

Love is lovely, except when it’s not, and when it’s not, listen to this new Aluna George track. Also, NEW ALUNA GEORGE TRACK. YES PLEASE.

13. “Love Gun” by Tess

The lead up to the drop in this song kills me every time.

14. “Jimi” by Willow Smith

This girl is a teenager and she’s already got the bougie creative hippy vibe I’ve been striving for for YEARS down to an art form. Anyway, this song is great, and also advises you to drink more water, which is very good advice.

15. “Happily Ever After” by Red Velvet

Red Velvet

This is the best track from Red Velvet’s new album. Don’t @ me. You won’t change my mind.

16. “Fun” by Blondie

Blondie has a new single out. Nuff’ said.

17. “Issues” by Julia Michaels

Julia Michaels

Honestly I’m so here for all these alternative *perfectly imperfect* love songs.

18. “Honey Sweet” by Blossoms

The bittersweet love song for all your romance-based nostalgia.

19. “Pilot With A Fear Of Heights” by Felicity

Felicity

I’m in love with both this girl’s voice, and the snappy as fuck chorus.

20. “Feeling Myself” by Nicki Minaj ft. Beyonce

There was no way we were going to get through this playlist without this song. If you’re not playing this at your Galentine’s Day party, you’re doing it wrong.

21. “B Side” by San Cisco

San Cisco

“I think that you’re great, let’s just be friends and hold hands at 2 A.M. It’s okay when I am just your B side.” This song is adorable, and the sweetest portrayal of unrequited love.

P.S. If you mention ” the friend zone” I will find you, and I will make you sorry you said it.

22. “Brooklyn Baby” by Fickle Friends

Fickle Friends

This is the song for anyone going through that awkward “but do you like me?” anxiety stage of a new romance. Also, it’s loaded with the kind of sweet sweet synths that drive me wild.

23. “Miss You” by Gabrielle Aplin

My favourite post-fight makeup song. I also like that this could be applied to friends too. I’ve said it once, an I’ll say it again: There needs to be more songs about friends.

24. “Scuse Me” by Lizzo

Lizzo

Listen to this and feel your self-confidence levels go straight up to 150% quicker than you can blink.

25. “Colours” by Halsey

Halsey’s gorgeously synthy electropop anthems about heartbreak are so good they’ll make you want to go find someone to break your heart, just so you can #authentically listen to them.

Like, Colours makes me wish I was less over my ex so I could lie in bed listening to this without feeling like a fraud. That’s how good it is.

26. “Cocoon” by Milky Chance

Milky Chance

It is very cold in London at the minute and the idea of getting into a cocoon makes me very happy. For a double whammy, listen to this while in your cocoon because this is the literal music embodiment of being wrapped up in soft, soothing layers of warmth.

27. “Give Me Love” by Izzy Bizu

My new soulful pop girl crush. That is all.
