Kristen Stewart Has Officially Received Her Very First Academy Award Nomination, And I Couldn't Be Any Happier For Her

Her performance in "Spencer" was truly a knockout.

Hollywood's annual award season has officially arrived, and we can now say the same of this year's list of Oscar nominees. As expected, Kristen Stewart's name is on it for the very first time.

The 31-year-old actor — who's known for roles in dozens of popular films, and massive franchises like the Twilight series — received her first nod from the Academy when it rolled out its extensive roster of 2022 nominees early this morning.

She's nominated for best actress in a leading role, for her performance as Princess Diana in Pablo Larraín's celebrated psychological drama Spencer. The historical fiction film zeroes in on one imagined weekend at the beginning of the 1990s, when Diana realizes that her marriage to Prince Charles has ended.

Kristen will contend for the prestigious accolade alongside a group of cinema icons and veteran Oscar darlings.

Her fellow nominees for best actress in a leading role are: Olivia Colman, for her performance in Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Lost Daughter, Nicole Kidman for Being the Ricardos, Penélope Cruz for Parallel Mothers, and Jessica Chastain for The Eyes of Tammy Faye.

    Big congratulations to Kristen!
