People Are Saying Lindsay Lohan's Defence Of Harvey Weinstein Is A Perfect Example Of Rape Culture
The criticism came after the actress shared a video in which she defended the movie executive, saying she felt "very bad" for him and that he'd "never harmed" her.
Yesterday, an expansive story from The New Yorker chronicled further allegations of sexual malfeasance on the part of Weinstein, including claims of harassment and, for the first time, rape.
Since the first allegations surfaced, many celebrities have spoken out against Weinstein and extended support to the alleged victims.
However, today Lindsay Lohan has spoken in support of Weinstein, saying that she feels "very bad" for him.
Speaking in Instagram Stories that have since been deleted, Lohan said:
Hi, this is Lindsay Lohan. I'm in Dubai, I'm home. I feel very bad for Harvey Weinstein right now. I don't think it's right what's going on. I think Georgina needs to take a stand and be there for her husband.
In a second clip, she said she'd worked with Weinstein several times – on the films Bobby and Scary Movie 5 – and that he'd "never harmed" her.
He's never harmed me or done anything wrong to me, and we've done several movies together. So I think everyone needs to stop. It's wrong. So stand up.
