We all know and love Kristen Bell for her iconic roles in shows like Veronica Mars and The Good Place and for always keeping it completely real when it comes to talking about her marriage and kids with her husband Dax Shepard.
We also love her for voicing the character of Princess Anna in Disney's Frozen. And if you don't love Frozen, you're lying to yourself and to me and I don't appreciate it.
Which is why it was kind of surprising to learn that Kristen worries certain Disney princesses could be teaching her daughters the wrong kind of lessons.
In a recent interview with Parents Magazine, Kristen discussed her concerns about some Disney princess stories, and Snow White in particular.
"It's truly my favourite part of the day," Kristen said of reading her two daughters — who are aged 3 and 5 — a bedtime story. "I glance away from the book and see their brains working while we're all cuddled up like meerkats."
She went on to explain that, when they're reading Snow White, she makes sure to have discussions with her kids about the questionable elements of the story.
Every time we close Snow White I look at my girls and ask, "Don't you think it's weird that Snow White didn't ask the old witch why she needed to eat the apple? Or where she got that apple?" I say, "I would never take food from a stranger, would you?" And my kids are like, "No!" And I'm like, "Okay, I'm doing something right."
In fact, she uses the opportunity to teach her daughters important lessons about consent.
